Ok, works started.

Another coat or 2 of base should do do it.

It's so much easier using a proper spray gun!!! And proper sanders!!

Your so slow! How long have you had that front bumper for 10 mins? I'd have sorted out a sextuplet turbo V12 swap by now  s;) ;) s;)

Can i borrow some of your get up and go you seem to have plenty to spare?
Well done mate.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

To be honest, my missus has been delayed by 2 weeks and I've not exactly got a full diary... Bit sad really but meh!

Ps. 1 coat did it. Going for a McDonald's whilst it drys off a bit... That's how I roll!   s8) 8) s8)

Consider V6 if your talking about a new engine and a Turbo Kit.
Don't  get me wrong I love my turbo but those V6 swaps have really got something.

I'd not even considered the v6 to be honest. I only really thought about the 2zz then the turbo.
Don't think the 2zz will suit my driving style as I'm used to turbo diesels driving at low revs.

Quickly scanned over a few v6 threads, looks like a massive job.

Will get it on tomorrow, but might look a bit odd for a while as the wheels haven't arrived yet and madmotors called me today, it's going to be 7-10 days for the rest of the kit.   s:( :( s:(

Cheers ripley, I'm actually quite enjoying myself... To be honest I have no idea what I'm doing, today was the first time I've sprayed with a gun. Next week will be the first time ive fitted a fibreglass bodykit ,sure that will be fun getting it to fit. Best learn how to use the fibreglass repair kits. Later this year hopefully will be fitting a turbo. I fitted one years ago to a xr2. Had no idea then and nothing has changed. I know nothing about boost controlling and stuff like that, so got some reading to do.
I like the self achievement thing, but more importantly I am tight and don't like paying people to do things I can break myself, it's in my genes. Although I've lived in kent for 8 years, I'm northern (almost Yorkshire) so that makes me automatically tight!

Looking good. Top job.

Don't sand into the recesses or the undersides of bits, you'll kill yourself with the polishing. Stick to the flat visible areas and it'll look great. Don't leave it too long before you denib and polish cos it only gets harder. The very next day is ideal.

Nice job. Don't drop while polishing, I've Done that. . . . . A few times! Lol lol.

I should have said before but I didn't realise you were painting it off the car, you always want to paint panels sitting in the position they go on the car in, upright- you know what I mean??? So the metallic particles lay the same as the surrounding panels.

But don't kill yourself if the colour looks a little off, bumpers are totally different colours to the body on most cars out of the showroom, you just don't notice cos it's new and shiny.

Re the V6 you've  got to ask yourself how much your going to spend on an engine rebuild and a turbo kit.
Last i heard drive in drive out V6 swap was 4.5k. That gets you around 200bhp and torque.
Oh and the noise.

2zz NA is a good track weapon but nobody has convinced me yet of it's merits on the street in comparison to a turbo.
I had a few diesels before my 2 and missed the torque so much.

Yes will give it a polish tomorrow.
Did everything how you said and it seemed to go ok. Glad you told me about the mix ratios because I didn't have a clue and the 2k hardener didn't say anything on the can.
Also the compressor psi, had it too high to start, I realised and dropped it, went on nice then.
Bloke in the paint shop was a pain, wanted to prove a point that he had product knowledge and I di really know what I wanted, just kept reeling off all types of paints and asking me what I wanted, when I told him what I was doing, he didn't want to give advice. Just looked at me all smug. But I let him have his moment of self importance.
Cheers for all the advice.

No worries. I know exactly what you mean, he probably has little to no experience actually painting, just knows what the products are, hate people like that. Like people on dealer parts counters, hear the techs talking and think they know it all.  Everyone's gotta learn somehow! In the future you can ask for the data sheet for any product you buy or Google and you'll find one for most products.
I'd really recommend a machine polisher if your enjoying it and getting good results, and stay away from farecla g3,  get some 3m fast cut plus and the green foam, a bottle will last you years, can get it all off eBay,  it's a shame I gave away a polisher recently because I got a new one. But a cheapo will do the trick and last well.

Bumpers polished and on,

I have no idea how, but my painting has turned out really good??
Few things need to sort though, my aluminium mesh wasn't long enough so had to fit the black back in and i think my aluminium would look better.
Also have a bit of a gap under the bonnet and need to figure something out. Car looks a bit out of balance without the rest of the kit and wheels but it's all on its way.

Before (bonnet popped)

After- not decided whether to stick the jdm badge on yet

I think after a bit more practice I could do it for you   s:D :D s:D

To be honest for the sake of about 30 quids worth of paint vs spray shop it would be worth a go... But I need a bit more practice, it's not perfect.
