Hi all, 2 months into my love affair with MR2 and I've debadged the rear (rather easy and looks the part) today I recieved my j-spec badge for the front, removed the cowboy logo easy enough, got rid of the adhesive underneath but have been left with an oval where the paint is a different shade, it also seems like the lacquer hasn't been placed over it as there is a ridge over the edge when you run your nail over it...any advice to improve/fix this?

Mine cleaned up with elbow grease and polish i think.
Don't forget that the JDM badge covers most of the area anyway.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Yeah SA that's exactly what I've encountered here, gonna try and t cut/ polish it into oblivion tomorrow and see if that takes the worst off it. And yeah the JDM badge is narrower, looks like it has ears sticking out when it's on!  s:lol:  s:lol:

I used t-cut to rub down the ridge left behind. I think it left a bit behind which isnt covered by the badge but you dont notice it with the badge on.

I dont think mine was as bad as that though! You could be in for a bit of polishing....

(Or you could come to Ding day and the paint guy could probably polish that out pretty quick).

I'd like to make a trip to Ding day but work and travel arrangements would be too much hassle but thanks for the info   s:) :) s:)  Sounds like I've got my day planned tomorrow then, elbow grease and a big ol' bottle of t-cut. I wouldn't mind if it leaves a little bit that's barely noticeable when the badge is on. I'm somewhat relieved to hear that Im not the only one that's encountered this issue.

Thanks guys

Wish me luck

Trust me it will look fine after a bit of TLC your not the first guys to fit a JDM  badge to a UK roadster.

Change your plans and come to ding day. My presence alone makes the trip worth while without all the other cool stuff.  s;) ;) s;)

hmm.. going to be facing this issue myself in a few days.
However...the state of my front bumper is so abysmal with stone chips...who will notice

You should be okay mate. My sable was lacquered under the stock badge so just needed a bit of a polish (that's just one benefit of buying the premium colour  s;) ;) s;)  )...

haha. Sweet. I'm getting the entire front resprayed, and the wheels refurbed within the next 6-8 months anyway.

What sort of money are we talking for the front respray?
I keep thinking of doing mine but I think it would be a matter of weeks before it was stone chipped again.

Was quoted 250 for the wheels and calipers and 400 the bonnet, front bumper and blend into the front side panels

Oh.. And then get the bumper covered in the clear protective shield. I think the bonnet is in a pretty decent state for being 10 years old and driven hard on B roads/motorways. It's just the bumper that gets absolutely manhandled by stones it seems

My bumper is fine but when Tom cleaned it we decided it had some kind of protection on it. A film of some sorts. So maybe i should get the bonnet resprayed and protected.

I had this when I removed my toyota badge today too!

Mine seems in a very poor way with no lacquer and what looks like scratches into the paint almost as if someone has cut around the oval badge with a sharp knife!

I was thinking of replacing the oval badge, but adding a coloured backing plate to hide the not so nice paint finish behind the 3 ovals.

Thinking either blue or carbon effect adhesive wrap type backing, cut to shape and stuck to the bonnet and then re affixing the emblem!

Anyone else done this or something similar?

Anyone want my now useless , newly bought J spec blue badge?
