Might be a tad more than I could afford.  s:bounce: :bounce: s:bounce:

Well a new equivalent anyhow.

Quote from: "StephenBennett"I dream of s Turbo'd TTE - like, slightly lighter MR-2, with an updated body and modern electronics.
GT86s are even more rare - nice though it is, I don't see it as a success story for Toyota and definitely not a natural replacement for the MR-2.

I have said before and will say again.

Have often felt putting pen to paper and writing to Mr T.

Do not change the design. You had it right first time.
Just add lightness. Composite panels maybe.
Freshen up the interior plastics.
Drop a modern 1.4 or 1.8 turbo in the back, job done.
For the engine do not waste R+D money just give alfa a call. Their 1.4 multi air gives 170bhp stock, the 1750 235? Plenty enoughespecially when you have reduced the weight.

It's a nice idea Jason but I don't suppose it would pass modern crash tests.
Be great with a little 1.4 turbo though.

This.

It's what Fiat are doing with Mazda. Fiat should do the new 124 based on the MX-5. Alfa should do their new spider based on the MR-2.

This came up after watching the video.

Looks promising - that's what the Toyo engineers have been working on! The basic shape is there - get some Italians in to give it a makeover.

The dash board in that concept and the seats look exactly the same on mr2 . Wouldn't be surprised if it is based on the mr2

that's an Mr2 in a body kit with an electric motor. nothing else. A mark 4 needs to looks at a different chassis, one that is lighter and less flex. Not the same one and add on weight and then to compensate add on power. They need to keep with weight down if they are going to try and remotely make a mk4.

And its very obvious that the interior has just had some plastic bits shoved over a standard roadster. Personally looks like some quick bodge job that Toyota have done, no product development at all. Chucking parts from different models and hoping that they are going to work in harmony.

It says it's mostly MR2 insides using a 246bhp 3.5-litre V6 hybrid engine.

I agree lighter is good - this one looks like it's 1500 kilos. That engine in a 1000 kilo car would be OK.   s:D :D s:D

There are quite a few with 240 bhp or more.
Mine makes 230 on a good day.
Any of the guys running 2gr engines are putting out 300+

Interesting video.

I suspect Mr T gave up years ago trying to compete with the sales of the mx5 and this looks like its aiming for a different market, people who like the idea of the new sporty hybrids but cant afford an i8 or P1 maybe?
