3 year old oil not fantastic but neither is it going to ruin the engine. It's the heat and sheering force that breaks oil down during use of which 6k miles is not alot. I will say the 55 is more likely to have the revised block over the 05. Question is to you what colour do you prefer?

Looks in good nick & low mileage 6K mileage isn't too bad might be worth getting an HPI check and checking out the mot record but for that money looks a real bargain

As Richard B says, three year old oil not very good, but it has been driven only 4500 miles.
This may have been longish journies where the oil would not have retained so much moisture or shorter journies where there would be some moisture retention.
The long journey scenario would be the better IMO but either way it is still only 1500 a year on average.
I suggest the Toyota engine is not that bad that it could be critically injured in that way.
You would likely need a new battery unless it has been kept on charge.
The tyres may be suspect also.
Brake fluid would need changing.
New windscreen wipers.
That' saboiut all that would have deteriorated.
It looks like it lives in a nice area, its been garaged and unused.
Most definitely worth a look and at that price sooner rather than later.
If you buy it first job change and orcheck out the above mentioned and change the oil.

Well the plot continues with the "Gumtree" little black number! I'd been in touch with the seller over the weekend and pretty much told him I was going to have the car & send him a deposit today to secure! I know, I was mad and desperate I suppose to have a 2 again and my brain was clearly not functioning properly! (No excuse, but I'd been off work sick last week with awful vertigo, so it may've had something to do with my rash decision). But who in their right mind would send a cheque to someone without viewing a car? I was stupid. Anyway before I posted the cheque, late last night, I decided to go on-line on the DVLA Govt MOT site and entered reg number/make. It brought up all the history of the MOT's, most early ones were "Passes" but then a couple of later ones had advisories, the normal handbrake issues, which wasn't a problem as they are fixable BUT my real concern that one advisory was "sill corroded". Immediately put me off, I didn't want a car that was already showing signs of corrosion, I appreciate its a 10.5 yr old car but didn't want that so I let the seller know who was most disappointed and that he swore that on his MOT certificates there was no such mention and he was clearly pis@@ed off with the Garage and was going to have words to rectify this mistake!  Meanwhile, he missed out on a buyer (me) at the same time.  If it is a genuine mistake and as he said the car is in excellent condition, I've missed a good 'un but it's just left me in two minds so I've declined the car!  s:( :( s:(

Well, fingers crossed I shall know tomorrow whether I shall be viewing a silver, black leather, 55 reg totally standard, full dealer service history, 49,000 miler, 2 previous lady owners. She was asking 4,950 originally (far too high), then 4,200.  She is tomorrow going to part ex it as she hadn't been able to sell it. I said I'd match the garage price (apparently 3,250) if I could come and view on Saturday, so pending she decides to hold on for me to see it and the garage agrees a deposit on the 5 yr old Astra she is wanting.  What do the forum think about this one?  More importantly - it would be great if someone could come along and view with me, cars in Hampshire.  s:D :D s:D

Sounds like a bargain. Any pictures?
Have you been able to check out the old mot's?
It might be good to better the dealer offer slightly, dangling the carrot so to speak.  s;-) ;-) s;-)
I can guarantee the dealer wouldn't sell it to you for their trade in value!

Might be good to be more specific about the location too. I am sure there is someone not too far away.

I tend to agree with Stu, it sounds like a goodun and if it is it may be worth offering a bit more.

Sorry I can't help with the viewing but hopefully someone nearer can and good luck.

Worth 4k to me all day long but then im not as tight as some on here.
If a dealer is offering trade in of 3250 its got to be.

Remeber ever year its harder to find a low mileage goodun.
I bought mine with 55k 2 years ago. Probably on around 70k now.

I agree with Scott. Too many people are saying oh its not worth this because this guy, last year, who was a friend of a friend of a friend heard on a forum that a car exactly the same spec as this sold for 2K.

If you get it for 3.5K your laughing.
