Hi, new to the forum ! Just picked up a 2000 mr2 completely standard with hard top
Failed mot on a few minor items that will be easily fixed and then it will be my dedicated track car

I've had a few fwd track cars in the past this will be my first red
Immediate plans are to go over everything and make sure it's in general good health. Give it a service and get through the mot. Only mods for the moment will be coilovers and decent tyres then il get it out on track and see how it feels

New to the mr2 so hoping this forum will be a good source of info

So I have been speaking to a friend who takes part in time attack and he's persuaded me to take part next year

Ordered a few parts up this week. Meister r coilovers, braided lines new discs and yellowstuff pads along with new rear calipers.

The wife has set me a budget which I must (try to) stick to, it's not a budget build by any means but I don't want to be spending on unnecessary items.
Il be starting by getting the chassis set up how I want and then look at adding some power later in the year when I have some track time under my belt

Should be a fun year

Last weekend i fitted my new meister r crd coilovers, new rear discs, yellowstuff pads , HEL braided lines and new rear calipers.

Just ordered eibach rear camber bolts, front discs and yellowatuff pads and rear droplinks, that should be everything i need to get it motd !
hopefully it will all arrive by the end of the week so i can get it all fitted ready for its mot

Do you need the camber bolts with the coilovers?
Not enough adjustment in them for your setup?
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

So will she demand receipts or does she trust you enough when you tell her you had to spend a whole £200 on coilovers?   s:lol:  s:lol:    s:lol:  s:lol:

Couching that with the proviso that you managed to get fitting thrown in at the price, of course.

The coilovers are only camber adjustable at the front

No she stupidly trusts me  s:) :) s:)
It's a decent budget though so hopefully there's won't be an over spend

I'm also taking a trips to Wales on Saturday to collect a rear half cage, hard top and ultra racing rear anti roll bar.
I already have a 6 point harness from a previous car, just need to decide on a bucket seat now

Completely forgot I started this thread so a bit of a lack of updates.

A quick catch up, all suspension and brakes have now been fitted and the cars rolling again. I purchased a sparco bucket seat in the end with rogue Motorsport side mounts.

So moving onto the wheels tyres etc. I ordered some 15x8 et0 for the rear and 15x7 et20 for the front, these will be fitted with 225/195 r888 and will obviously give it a considerably wider track, I contacted rogue who sell a set of arch flares. Collected a few weeks back but there designed to fit with the trd body kit so that was another purchase !

Did a test fit today

I'm sure not to everyone's taste but Im liking it

Also fitted a Carbon bonnet and purchased a celica to steel the 2zz from  s:) :) s:)

I think they were around 220 ! But like I said there made to fit with the trd kit, I  found some of the kit used but you can buy replicas for around 500.

Looking good so far there buddy! I'll be keeping an eye on this build as it's caught my interest  s:) :) s:)  I don't think you'll be letting the back end loose with that wheel and tyre combo in a hurry lol

Cheers
I'm hoping to get the car setup and on track next month. Hopefully the wider track was worth the time and money as I was questioning whether it was money well spent

Looks good that! Iim sure it'll look better with the wide arch kit on.

How comes you're selling the 2zzge? Change of route, is it?

yup tbh i could do with the money to finish other bits of the car off, ive gone a bit over budget in some areas spending money i wasnt expecting to and id be looking at spending a bit more getting the 2zz in the way i want to. So i`l probably stick with the 1zz until next year some time

Whilst fitting the side skirts at the weekend i decided to remove what was left of the nappy !
Unfortunately what i thought was a solid rear subframe seems to have a big rust hole underneath  s:( :( s:(  So i`l be heading down to toyota with and handing over a chunk of cash for a new one before long, probably get it powder coated and waxoiled if i can find somewhere local that powdercoats for a decent price.

Its so common.
Really dont think enough people look at them hard enough.
Sooner rather than later supposedly no longer manufactured and stock is short.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
