Quote from: "Cailsey"Wow! Beautiful looking car!
I've trying to smarten mine up and find that its when you really give them a good clean, that's when you find all the niggly little things that you then want to fix.
It seem endless........
I guess it helps to start with such as great example such as yours.
Very nice indeed.

Thanks very much.

Yeah I know what you mean, I don't think any car is 100% perfect. You're right, the cleaner they are, the more imperfections you find. I've got a couple of stone chips I need to attend to. Just have to remind myself the car will be 12 years old in March, and if it was too perfect, I'd never want to drive it! Although try telling that to my OCD!!   s:lol:  s:lol:

Not driving any car is a sin.
Too many get tucked away as show ponies.
Drive it that is where the fun is to be had.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

The final stage of the detail, was to have the Mohair roof treated and protected, along with the headlights being restored, as the tops had gone a little cloudy / yellow.

Roof being treated:

Headlights before:

During restoration:

50:50

End result:

I don't want to modify this too much and stray too far away from the OEM theme, but I did fit this chrome 'ferrari esq' gear knob. I'm really chuffed with this, it's got a nice weight to it, and has really improved the look and feel!!   s:D :D s:D

Also the V5 turned up in the post today, so MY 04 TWO is officially mine!   s:bounce: :bounce: s:bounce:   Now I just need to get out and enjoy it, weather permitting of course!   s:lol:  s:lol:

Ohh Black or Chrome. That's a toughy!! I like the contrast of black. But with the silver colour and chrome headlights I think it would good!

Are you keeping the front Toyota badge? They've always been a bit of a bug of mine. Obviously just my opinion  s:) :) s:)

Funnily enough I haven't really thought about the front badge, it doesn't really bother me, so will probably leave it to keep that OEM look. One thing that has become apparent from that picture is that I need to lose the amber indicator cover and fit some silvertec bulbs.

Reference the grill, I tried googling a silver MR2 with a chrome mesh grill but couldn't find anything. Times like this I wish I had the skills to use photoshop!

Yes it's all personal taste and it would be terrible if we all wanted to be the same  s:) :) s:)  looks lovely either way!

I don't know how easy that will be to do. If I remember correctly you have to heat up the casing to remove it.

there must be a silver somewhere with the chrome front it's just finding the picture  s:) :) s:)

Just seen this thread Aiden.......   I've never been one to care too much who a car goes to as one would a pet, but I'm so glad you have become the new owner and hope you keep the 2 for a long time ,
You know I baby'd that car !  and its really pleasing to see someone like minded appreciate its condition.

Glad to see you're still on here mate! As previously said, the car is a real credit to you, I genuinely don't think I could have found a better one! I still haven't driven it since bringing it home, can't wait for a nice sunny, dry day!

I love all the things you've done to it, I don't want to deviate too far from it's originality, but want to make the odd subtle change to try and put my own stamp on it.

I really can't see this going anywhere, pretty certain it's a keeper!

How are you getting on with the porker? Hope the collection all went smoothly?

Yes the collection of the Boxster went fine thanks Aiden    s:D :D s:D
I'm oh so happy with it, its in much the same condition as the MR2 and the same age but with 41k on it
Its a very dark blue and there are a few visible stone chips on the nose but otherwise the body is faultless as are the wheels, I was'nt prepared to part with the 2 for anything less !
Much like you, I've not been out in it apart from going to a mates to fit a short shifter which IMO they need.
The "one touch and upto 30mph roof control module is purchased and fitted as are my new plates  P  80XA  x    s:D :D s:D
Windscreens booked for later in the month cos its had a couple of stonechip repairs and I'm currently shopping for a new set of boots, the dealers going to sort an AC leak on Monday and then that should be it hopefully..........  just how I want it..
I love Boxsters, this is my 4th, nothing to do with the Porsche badge really, it could say Proton for all I care, its just a grown up MR2    s:) :) s:)    s:) :) s:)    s:) :) s:)

Took advantage of the lovely sunny weather today and went for a blast in the two with the roof down. I was joined by my Dad in his MK3 MX-5.

What a cracking drive, we drove along one of my favourite B roads with plenty of twisties, ended up at a scenic caravan park for a coffee. On the way back we pulled into a quaint little classic car garage just off the A52. The chaps in their were really friendly, happy to talk about cars, and were happy for us to have a look around their workshop.   s:D :D s:D

This is first time I've driven the two with the roof down, really enjoyed getting to know it, the level of grip is fantastic, very direct steering.

Took a couple of snaps, my camera is pretty rubbish and I'm no David Bailey, so excuse the poor quality!   s:lol:  s:lol:

I'm going to have to wash it now!!   s:roll:  s:roll:

Im so sorry for you.  s:cry:  s:cry:
Your own father drives an MX5!!!   s:oops:  s:oops:
Oh the shame of it.
I would have had to keep the roof up and hoped nobody recognised me.
You are either brave or stupid.  s:lol:  s:lol:   s;) ;) s;)

Glad you got that roof down.

Sorry
Im like a dog with a bone.
Mx5 seems to bring out the worst in me.
All most as much as custard coloured 2s.

Have you decided on the grill colour yet?  You'll need to get a rear one to match!

Thanks for the kind words.

Think I'm going to go for the black grill, as it will contrast better.

What are Mongo's?! Lol

I really like the banana spoiler, but I know there are plenty that don't!   s:lol:  s:lol:

Each to his own regarding spoilers.  The same applies to wheels   s:D :D s:D

Mongo's are a piece of triangular clear plastic that fit into the window pillar & block the wind bouncing off the door mirror into your face when the window is down.  Do a search.  There was a post a couple of weeks back.  They work a treat for a simple idea.
