Having recently removed the mirror from my "daily" I anticipated that the mirror would be fixed to the mount with a taper wedge system.
Using "search" on here I found in "appearance" a write up about the the FL model.
This referred to a clip system that was released by expanding the clip.
I tried this and after failing asked for HELP in that section.

Meanwhile, undaunted,I answered  my own question.
I first sprayed some WD40 carefully into the joint between the lug/ slug and the mirror.
I believe the adhesive bonding the lug/ slug to the screen is UV activated and unlikely to be solvent sensitive but who knows so no spray on there.
In retrospect the spray was probably unnecessary.
I found that by rotating the mirror 90 degrees it came away from the mount.
There is the spring clip as on the FL but the rear of the mirror has an oval knob that is wider when horizontal than vertical.
So rotating the mirror mount90 degrees brings the smaller dimension of the knob between the clip and off it comes.
Maybe that is also the case for the FL.
