Unfortunately someone was booked in after me so I couldn't get it corrected.. I'm actually still here, hoping they finish the guy after me quickly and then I might see if they have time to redo mine.. but it's unlikely.

Oops
Dont worry its not pants of shame worthy.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

What's the fastest way of fixing it?
Jack up
Wheel off
Jack under wheel hub
Undo top mount nuts
Lower
Rotate

Then reverse everything?
Or do you need to undo the bottom locking collar that sets the ride height to allow it to rotate?

Don't worry John,  I currently hold the record for worst wheel alignment, I was 14 degrees out!
2zz by Rogue. Se7en cams. BMC CDA. Competion clutches lightened flywheel, Megillian Racing Exhaust. TRD sportivo suspension and ARB\'s. TRD braces. TRD quick shift. TRD dash kit, Matts brace. Getting there but not sure when it will stop!

Exactly that, to the letter.

Been a bit of while - so thought I'd put down the recent happenings..

The big thing is that I now have a spare engine  :-) :-) :-)  (All credit to Carolyn (& David) for putting up with me and coaching me through the process, modifying my pistons, cleaning up my valves and being patient with my "spannering"). This is Carolyn standing on ceremony (as usual) and signing off her work. (Engine is under the cover on my trailer!)

Other than that - I'm loving the coil overs and have just installed (Courtesy of mikeymead) the EDFC controller and motors  :-) :-) :-)
The plan will be to cut out the console section where the clock was. I still need to make a mounting bracket for the whole thing - and I'm aware that the controller does get quite warm... so will have to hope and see if it copes in that space or not. I'm more worried about winter to be honest, when I have the heater going...

Going back to engine news, my engine has just started to burn a bit of oil. Nothing major - but I am now going to be putting together plans to either swap it out myself at the end of the summer or engage the professional services of one of our affiliates to accomplish this, I don't want to miss out on the learning opportunity, but then I need to have a healthy appreciation for actual abilities and time available to me.

Once that is in and running I will more than likely be looking to up the power level - nothing major, but will likely be going down the turbo route as it's well trodden and there are far more parts/kits bit and pieces available than the supercharging route! It'll need to be able to stand up being used regularly so that will mean I need to be pragmatic with my approach - I cannot risk reliability for the sake of a bit extra power. No doubt some would say then don't turbo it!

Reading your post you've just reminded me, do you still want the fascia and clocks? I've had them on the sideboard for a while and need to get them posted if you want them?

Yes I do!! Chances of me getting the cutting right are quite low...

Update time!
The "to do" list is as follows:
-Check the pre-load on the left hand side of the car, particularly the rear as I think It might need adjustment.
 - Modify and install the heater cover so that EDFC sits nicely in the gap where the clock was
 - Install the rocker cover gasket
 - install the sub and amp setup
 - install the EMB
 - Finish the ducktail spoiler (currently building up the primer - it says high build.. but it's not really)..
 -        Once that's done I can then start on my rear bumper following the debadging debacle at dong day last year..
 - Finish refurbing the colour coded seats and then fit them.

At some point I'm going to have to decide on how to accomplish the engine swap...
I have a variety of quotes from our established expert affiliates, which are very attractive.

However I would like to be able to do it myself... I'm assuming that I'm going to need an engine crane as a minimum, but I need to read up on what else I'll need in order to do this
myself. Currently watching a couple of engine cranes on eBay.

It's very low on the priority list, but I'm going to store this here for future reference when I'm able to get to it:

with possibly the mini morimoto's
 m https://www.theretrofitsource.com/compl ... age-3.html m

maybe the HS2's are better.

Drop it out.  Jonbill did it without a lift.  Drop the engine and gearbox with the sub-frame, leaving the driveshafts and hubs connected.  Call me and I'll tell you how to do it.  You might need a crane to manhandle the engines.  You can rent one for a couple of days.

Thanks Carolyn - I've not found a rental place with reasonable rates as yet, but it's early days. I was thinking of finding something cheap on eBay as this process is likely to NOT be done in a couple of days as I'll only be able to apply myself to it as and when I get spare time.

I will likely give you a call about it, as the "drop it out" description is probably filled with lots of things I've yet to know or understand!

Already forgot who it was but someone just "dropped it out" recently on nothing more than some ramps. Somehow managed to get it to clear the subframe. Sounds like witchcraft to me but it's possible. Easier would be to put it on axel stands high up and just drop the whole lot like Carolyn said. Definitely easiest. Especially if you don't need a rolling shell

Thanks all... I need to and consult the green and blue books to figure out all the bits that have to be in done and in what order....
Plus I will at least need a trolly thing at least to shift it round once it's "dropped".. can anyone point me to a readers ride thread where they have documented this process ( the whole process of engine swapping) with pictures? All the ones I've seen so far have been a before and after!

Remember our failed efforts to record the re-build?  That's why there's no 'how to'.  You're too damn busy to do it!!  Worry not, we'll get you through.  Don't bother with the books.  They assume you're a Toyota dealer.

I think Jonbill dropped it onto a rug and pulled.  Hard.  Not sure, you should ask him.  As you know, I use a lift and a dolley... so Jonbill is your best bet.

Japcrap dropped his onto a crawler board but that might be a bit restrictive in a garage etc? Cheap as chips though.

I dropped the engine on a dolley as Carolyn suggests.

See picture below:

Having an engine crane helps to raise the rear enough to tilt the engine out the way, but not 100% essential. Try removing rocker cover and sump to gain some height  s:) :) s:)

I have a crawler board if you need to borrow it, might be cheap enough to build a dolly though. Aldi sell the wheels from time to time.

Thanks guys for the offers (Stu!) - I believe that as I'll likely be doing this by myself for the first time, it may be worthwhile spending a bit extra in terms of the engine lift and the crawler board/dolly so that I don't unnecessarily damage the car/engine/ME.

I will keep you posted on the decision process, in terms of timing this is likely to be a winter thing.. if anyone knows of an engine lift going cheap let me know  :-) :-) :-)

They're around for about £100 on shops like machine mart etc, you can find on ebay used ones for cheaper
