As many of you may know, these are not presently available.  They are listed 'out of stock' on all the usual sites.  As there is always going to be a demand for these, I decided to contact Toyosports and ask what the deal is.
They say "Check back in four weeks".  Apparently a new batch is in production.
This is probably the only bolt-on goodie that actually has a disernable effect on a 1ZZ.  There is definitely an improvement in throttle response and low-down performance. (Especially if it's wrapped.)  And - it's a tidy way of getting rid of pre-cats.

I think the real question here is how quickly can Hamish start providing these at a nice forum price?  s:) :) s:)

Well, if the quality and price are right - I'll be a customer.  Some of the american ones are paper-thin.

I'm struggling with this myself.  I really need one this week and the only option seems to be the JDM Honda Parts one?

Make an offer on this one?  They are really solid, so being used is not a big deal.

I was thinking about it, i'd then just buy some gaskets from Toyota to pair it with.  Not sure how many miles it has seen however.

I bought one for my supercharger project that looked like that.  Solid.

Interesting comment about the wrapping. Could you explain why wrapping makes a difference (to performance) other than the obvious reduction of reducing heat in the engine bay? (genuinely interested  s:) :) s:)  )

The inside of the manifold runs hotter, which slows the cooling of the exhaust gasses and helps them get through the system quicker, or: " wraps are designed to keep the heat inside the header and by containing heat, it increases exhaust gas temperatures. This increase in temperature helps with exhaust scavenging effects which raises exhaust speeds and lowers intake temperatures."
Another benefit is, as it keeps the engine bay much cooler, it also assists intake efficiency.

There is a con on wrapping and that is due to the higher heat that will speed up the erosion on the inside of the pipe. Not that it will effect most it does happen.

Richard has a point. If you have a cast iron, or mild steel, or thin-skinned manifold, it will corrode faster.  In fact, it can cause a cast manifold to crack.  None of that applies to a Toyosport, which is heavy gauge stainless.

Well, managed to get the manifold for £90.  I wrapped my old one so will most likely wrap this one too.

That should be the last part I need (thank the lord, the budget is blown to smithereens!)

Thanks for the tips all  s:) :) s:)

Well done.  I do think the Toyosports one is a bit more robust than the others.  Probably advising the obvious; wrap it on the bench, it's a hell of a lot easier and you'll get a tidy result.

Hi Carolyn

So, would you recommend getting one for my MR-S track toy?

I appreciate not to expect any/much BHP improvement, but throttle response and low down performance would be tantamount to improved torque at lower revs (ie better pull going through the gears?) or have I mis-read this and highlighting my mechanical numptiness?

I would recommend one.  I have one car with and one without.  Otherwise, the power plants are identical.  The one with pulls better.  Jonbill, who just did a stock 1ZZ rebuild also thought mine was quicker.  One bonus, with an MR S is you've got a gearbox with slightly better ratios for the track - they are the racers' choice (htough they do tend to put limited slip diffs in them).
