I can't imagine engine control is hooked into brake and clutch fluid.
Have you tried taking the plugs out and cleaning them up?

Yeah. No difference.

Ok so sounds like fuel to me. Tried easystart or similar?
Two injectors failing together seems a little unlikely. [emoji848]

I agree. But when the 2 that I think have failed are also missing the spacer on the end?

Ah, didn't spot that. Sounds like a smoking gun, but how was it working before? Sure they're not still attached to the head?

No. They were never there. No idea why it worked before but hopefully the replacements will arrive in time for this weekends work list :)

Heat shield fitted.
Still having starting issues. Definitely fuel related though as I have leaks around injectors.

We have a bit of progress.
Fuel leak is sorted.
Cleaned pressure regulator and changed the seals on the replacement I and no fuel leaks but still not running.
Took the spark plugs out and 1 and 4 were black but 2 and 3 were clean.
Also installed a Bluetooth OBD 2 reader and it's telling me coil packs 2 and 3 are faulty.
Going to replace the spark plugs 1st and then recheck and if no joy I'll start testing the coil packs.

Bad news.... Still not running.
Error codes P1305 and P1310
Ignition banks 2 and 3.
Good news..... Bluetooth OBD2 Reader works well.

Any advice?

I read that as errors communicating between ECU and coil packs.
Has the loom to the coil pack possibly been damaged? Crushed, stretched etc?

Cabrioman

I need to go through everything and make sure I haven't damaged any wiring or something has unplugged.

Going through everything to try and find out why it won't run anymore.
I've got an ECU coming to test that but if that doesn't work, I'm stumped.

Funny that it's not firing on the off cycle. 1 fires, 3 doesn't, 4 fires, 2 doesn't. Based on which are clean and dirty. 1 and 3 are black so incomplete burn.

A timing test would go a long way
...neutiquam erro.

Cabrioman

How would I do a timing test?

Visual unfortunately.
Although I did see a clip of someone using a timing test light on coilpacks.

In hindsight, and looking at the codes, ecu or wiring seem most likely. Could be as simple as a ground issue.
Ignition requires a pretty solid ground. I think (don't hold me to this) it's the ground wire that goes from the back right of the engine to the body. Short black/white wire I think
Worth a quick check?

EDIT: wrong. It's the ground on the left of the block, under the pcv valve/pipes
...neutiquam erro.

I checked the earth's yesterday and they were nice and tight. Error codes are bank 2 and bank 3 P1305 P1310. Cleared and tried again but still no joy.
Swapped coil packs over with 1 and 4 but still same error codes.
I'm thinking a sensor or the ECU but if it was a sensor, wouldn't I get an error code for it.

What sensor would it be? The feedback from the coils is from the coils themselves. They return a "I've fired" message.
If you've got a tester ecu on the way, that'll eliminate either ecu or wiring. Or you could test the actual ecu output manually.
...neutiquam erro.

Cabrioman

Thinking maybe crank sensor, cam sensor or VVT sensor.
I'll give the new ECU a try and hope that solves it. If not then I'll have to go through wiring I guess.

They all throw a hissy fit if they don't get what they're expecting. Or rather, the ecu does.

Replacement ECU fitted and all running again. :)
Wired in rear camera, fitted rear bumper and lights, fitted rear storage boxes and tidied under frunk.
Still need to finish brakes and clutch but waiting for tools.
Should be complete either next weekend or weekend after.
Then put it through an MOT to see what other jobs need doing.

Car moved under its own steam for the first time since being garaged a year ago.
Clutch seems a little soft at the moment but hoping to borrow someone's car tomorrow to compare [emoji6]
All brakes are now replaced. Just need to replace the bleed nipples and bleed the system.
Gutted it's not ready for tomorrow but Rome wasn't built in a day [emoji6]
