Polishing the chrome !!  luckily my chrome is still in great condition and comes up like new with some elbow grease..

Use 3 layers of ceramic coating. It will look even better. And coating will protect chrome from small scratch.

I've tried polishing the chrome off without any luck. I'm going to try some of this next :

Basically hydrochloric acid. The more complicated route would be reverse electrolysis.
