Not gonna lie, I left my brackets on and detached from the manifold instead.

Here is where having a good quality socket set really helps.

6 point sockets and 1/2 drive.

I managed to get the down pipe ones off with sockets and a dewalt 1/2 impact gun.

This then gave me more room to work on the brackets in the block and got a breaker bar in.

But I did round the same one as you on the heat shield, high quality drill bits working up in size to drill it out.

Keep up the good work.

So I made a little progress yesterday!

I ended up grinding the seized bolts off. Also gave the engine a good scrub down and a little polish.

Will start on the plumbing this weekend.

I always found it handy that the exhaust side was on the right. It means all of the intake side is on the side of the throttle body.
Not required at all, just a tip. Plenty others have done it this way around.

So if you look at the last pic, the oil drain side of the turbo is facing up, doh...

So I tried to clock the turbo this weekend and no luck with some bolts stuck and some just to hard to reach. I rang up a turbo specialist to do this because I don't want to break the most expensive part of my build! All on pause until I get this done. Then I can get to the plumbing when I get free time, which is damn rare with a 7 month old little baby in the house haha

Got the turbo all clocked the way it should be and just waiting on the waste gate actuator to arrive that ive ordered. Im getting an adjustable one from mamba. You change the springs to suit the psi you need and its really adjustable in terms of placement on the turbo. The one that comes stock with the GT28 makes it a bit tricky to get the turbo to face exactly at 12oclock.

Got some stuff done this weekend.

Got new wastegate actuator and set to 7psi.
Connected oil feed and drain lines.
Connected K&N intake filter.
Bolted exhaust on.

STILL TO DO
Connect charge pipe.
Connect water lines.
Connect sensors (there were 2 sensors on the stock manifold and Ive only got room for one now, will figure that our later)
Connect meth injection.
Connect vacuum piping. Heres a little diagram of what I'm thinking, let me know if you think it could go wrong somewhere.

Noticed I swapped the BOV and waste gate around, just swap them around in your head and you'll see what I mean

Nice one, like the exhaust where is it from?

Starting to make good progress now.

Looks like you'll have the joy of bleeding the coolant system when you're ready as well!

All my pictures are gone!?

Anyways my car is done and back on the road with a fresh MOT and a decent insurance rate.

It's at 205hp which is a good start and a riot to drive. Also sounds crazy!

The wastegate wasn't releasing enough air. Either not fully opening or needs to be ported so it was overboosting to 1.2 bar. So they fitted a restrictor (the ones that class B rally cars use) and it brought the boost down to 0.4 bar.

They also installed my meth kit which does a really good job at keeping the temps down.

I'm a happy chappy

How is that exhaust?

I've got the same manifold and was going to get one made up by someone locally but with the current situation it's tempting to just pay for the one that will bolt on.

Quiet enough to daily drive?
Pass an MOT?
I'll enquire with them about cost

mr2turboguy

That exhaust is LOUD! Sounds great on track but I would not recommend it for a daily driver. I'm definitely going to add a silencer box in.

It passed MOT but don't think it will pass the sound test for all tracks.

Thanks.

Going to try and get some quotes for a system with a valve between the cat/silencer leading to a second tailpipe
