Hard top fitting

I am, still new to this car, so when fitting hard top (i dont have one to try yet) does it fit over the lowered soft top, or does it need removing first..  thank you.

Just lowered, with the ears tucked neatly away. Probably a good idea to check the drains first too so there's nothing festering away in them over winter.
