Sorry for mix of noon and early evening images.

That must have been an extraordinarily long shutter speed!

Quote from: SuperArt on February 12, 2022, 21:07So you are not running a crash bar? Did you also need to relocate the horns?

The horn bracket does not attach to the crash bar, so they are not affected.

My apologies for the late response  ;)

As to the double spoiler conundrum, the banana is a style accessory, the duckbill has a very much functional effect.

Chapeau to your sourcing skills!

...and Turbo Dodo is for sale.

I took her for an hours drive on local B roads today after work.
For the first time since taking ownership I felt nothing; not amusement, excitement, satisfaction, just straight up apathy.
I remember fondly falling in love with pouring myself into a tiny low-to-the-ground odd looking mid-engined sports car all those years ago. How I felt so proud of myself for doing small maintenance jobs, how excited I felt finding all those rare parts and of course the feeling of camaraderie joining you folks for drives out. However all good things it seems must come to an end. I enjoyed the journey far more than reaching the destination.

Not going to do anything else to it, shelved the safari rally light idea.

Time to move on. Never thought I'd feel this way ever but there you go.
Best regards,
Arthur

That´s what is said but... whý??? WHÝ must all good thing come to an end. Never saw the sense is that. Nope, sorry, not stopping with/ ending good things.

Sorry to read this @SuperArt

We have never met, but have always admired your unique masterpiece. I can empathise with your sentiments, but just a thought before you consider taking actions to sell.....why not leave it for 2 weeks or so and see if you can replicate your current apathy towards the car + maybe driving in general.

The 'other' things in life sometimes take a far greater priority and can have a positive/negative impact on our overall satisfaction with events.

I apologise for wittering on about matters I know zilch about, but please give yourself the opportunity to reconsider.

Being the compassionate person that I am, I am sorry to hear you feel that way, but, if you do, you do.
I am prepared to relieve you of your burden for £1k.
If the love is not there, time to let go. I am prepared to take on that burden for you. That's what friends are for.

Sell it to Ardent. Sell it to Ardent. Sell it to Ardent.

I´ll take the turbo off your hand Jason  ;)

@SuperArt take the roof off, take the muffler off (turbo and cat are moot enough for the next bit); roll it out first light Sunday morning, go to the deserted industrial estate down/up the road and let the turbo smoke the tyres.
I went out early this morning and lit the rear up with n.a. power even in thírd. It is súch a nicely balanced car and with the upgrades yours has ... dríve that smile on your face!

Bugster_MR2

I've been there once. Built my first 2zz MR2 back in 2009. Drove it for a few years and got fed up. Sold it. Drove a nice Mercedes C-class for a few years. Missed driving with the roof down. Tried a Boxster and a SLK 350. Ended up buying a beautiful red stock low milage MR2 again. Nothing gives more bang for the buck.

I agree with Gibla. Give yourself a few weeks to think this through. Maybe you will change your mind. If not, GLWTS. It will sell quick for sure. It is a beauty.

I bought my own car twice now!

Had it 10 years. Not once thought of selling it.

Go and drive something else, and see how good you've got it right now.

The grass isn't greener.

Do you think a 2ZZ might keep you more interested? It may not be as fast as some turbo 1ZZs, but it's definitely a more engaging driving experience.

Each to their own but the 2zz doesn't do it for me. Even with a rotrex strapped to it perhaps Arthur may like it more than me.

Point being new does not need to mean replacing the former  ;D

Appreciate your sage advice, also I'm sure Turbo Dodo would appreciate your praise if only she had ears (no ears here! Her strap works)
It's not really anything complicated, I'm not going through bad times or experiencing any emotional turmoil.
I just found myself in a moment of lucidity thinking "why am I keeping this thing going when I'm clearly not enjoying the process anymore?"
I don't need the space or money, that's not why I'm selling; but I would like not to have to spend time on it now that its no longer serving the job of making me smile.

I still feel the same, ready to pass the baton to someone else.

Arthur

Well I wasn't thinking of taking payments in instalments but I will consider £1k per month for a few months. I like your offer!
This one car is already quite the burden Jase, you sure you can handle it without compromising the upkeep on Sabine? I for one wouldn't be able to handle two of these!

I am fully aware I'll not be able to replicate the experience easily at this price point. The problem is I think I've reached a point in my life where I don't really have time or find enjoyment in a dedicated fun car.
I have driven the Dodo 2,700 miles in the last 5 years. Some of those were Sunday drives with ROC members, but other than that this is really just a Toy.
Will think on it a little but my heart isn't in it anymore.

I know the grass isn't greener.
I don't even want the grass haha.

The only way I can be interested in this platform again is with something that has extremely wild looks and power. The problem is I'll need professional help achieving both; but having had some negative experiences with supposedly reputable ROC members for parts and services I'm not not sure I have faith I can see through another big project and I don't like doing anything by halves.

Off the shelf for me going forward.
If I HAD to pick something else to get into, it would probably be the new shape Exige or some kind of Cayman. Building a family and home comes first, maybe when I hit my midlife crisis I'll revisit this.

I've had this little baby since I was 24 paid with using my first pay check. It's really just sentimentality keeping me going these days.

Washed, applied de-ironiser, clay bar'd, waxed and buffed. If I had a DA I'd like to give it a once over with some polish too.

She makes a pretty subject for sales photos. Interior cleaning tomorrow then under the cover she goes until the tyre kickers show up.

Maybe you should take it to the Drivers Club National Event on sunday? You would probably sell it there with most of the MR2 lovers all in one place?
