I've changed jobs (a bit over a year ago). My new workplace is just under 2 miles from my house. Although it's lovely not spending an hour or more each way these days, I am slightly concerned that I never get a chance to warm the engine up properly.
I work 12 or 13 hours every night (lorry driving), so I'm rarely in the mood to go for a spin when I finish. (Especially with things the way they are right now).
Anyway, question is: Am I doing any damage constantly running open-loop?
On such a short run, I don't open up or use any excessive power (below 4k revs, and no lead boots!)
Opinions welcomed :D

The roof is down on my MR2,
And I\'m grinning, grinning ear to ear!

I consider myself one of the least qualified to give a proper answer.

Is it ideal. No, of course not. Hence the question.

The ecu is doing its thing. You are helping it as best you can. So between you the best is being done.

The good news. Your oil is being circulated. Not so some others.

Also, there are cars out there where short journeys are their entire existence. And seemingly getting on with it.

Likewise I'm no authority but more frequent oil changes would be something to consider.

An occasional run would help dry out any condensation in the exhaust.

More frequent oil changes (6months tops), don't stress the gearbox and engine by flooring it in low rpm or going over 3-3.5k rpm.
Maybe consider a thinner oil? Does it run in the winter? 0w20 oil maybe?
...neutiquam erro.

Hi, thanks for the feedback.
I use her every day. I'm doing an oil change next weekend.
She's a bit noisy at tick over, so I think I'll stay away from thinner oils...
Nice to have some reassurance ;D
