Hi all. I have my front bumper off at the moment to fit new fog lights and i thought while I was there i would fit some bumper mounted DRLs. They are made by Ring and they are Cruise-Lite Ice LED Daylight Styling Lights. I thought they would look good and be practical. I'm going to fit them either side of the number plate by the grill. They are just the lights with no other attachments or wiring. Does anyone know how and where to Wire them into? i would like them on when the ignition is on. Many thanks and keep safe everyone.

Thanks Jane. they were a bit of a impulse purchase in the reduced section. I hope its a straight forward job to do.

Call the midlife!

Most people, myself included pick up a 12v feed from one of the blue wires on the wiper motor. I'd love to be able to remember which one but I'm away from my car at the moment.
You need a cable tapped into the dipped beam to switch the DRL off when you put the dipped beam on.

According to the thread I screen shotted to do mine it's "top middle, blue with white flecks".

If you search on here for Retrofit DRL Thoughts (don't put the thoughts bit in the search) it's the thread I used and carries all the info, I can't work out how to link it here, sorry.

That's brilliant thanks very much. I looked all over the How to's as well.

I found a switched live in fusebox and tapped into that.

Dont you need a relay, something like this;

(Not recommending that one, its just the 1st one I found).

This should dim them/switch them off when you are on main beam?

I'm sure that you will find the reference to "battery connection" mean simply a positive and negative connection. That is a live from nearby source and the negative to a nearby metallic part of the car. I suggest you put a fuse in the circuit and to help with this a piggy back fuse can be used. Theses are available at low cost via eBay. The link demonstrates their safety in use.

Find the live wire (blue I think) for the wipers & simply scotchlock onto this.  DRL's will then go on & off with the ignition.   You can do the same with the dip beam cable with the supplied wire if you want the DRL's to go off when you turn on the headlights.  My Ring DRL's are just below the bumper.  I also fitted the LED circular DRL/fogs...these DRL's stay on with the headlights.

@Smithy If your retrofitting DRL's you need to make sure they can be switched off or go dim at night either manually or via your dipped beam.

Had a colleague who got pinged for it. (Got pulled for his self styled number plate, and got picked up on the walk round) Dazzling other road users. Bit like the @!%$?=~! I was stuck behind this morning who thought some light rain warranted the use of his rear fog light!

Smithy

Oh OK thanks for the heads up on that. I also need to find some front indicator bulbs that flash orange but that's another story.

I'm going to try and finish installing my DRLs this weekend. I'm going to try and pick up a live feed ( as recommended) from the wiper motor (blue with white fleck) I hope. Does anyone know which headlight wire to tap into so they dim with headlights please?

An after market fit, even properly done/working, is an automatic reject at the annual tech inspection here. They will keep the circulation permit then and there. You can call the tow truck.

It's good being Anglo-Saxon there seem to be a lack of rules.

There are two sides to every medal. A lack of rules is a good example.

Had a quick look at a wiring diagram. Red/green and red/lilac appear to be main beam. The others which should be full beam (and not wanted) are plain red and red/black.  There seems to be different colours for left and right bulbs.

Thank you Paul. I guess I could pick up the side light too as there seems to be just two wires? red and white.
trying to locate a live from the window wiper motor, have you got the diagram for that too? someone said its the blue and white fleck?
