You don't need to teach a cat that.
They work it out all on their own.
Same as bossing huge dogs around.

You'll notice with the cat on my lap the dog is a mile away.

Just noticed your post #10, particularly the red and black umbrella. I have one the same, not too coincidental, but I bought mine in New York in September 2000, how do I remember? We were there one year to the day before 9/11.

That umbrella must be at least 15 years old working on the number of cars it's been in, it's probably not even fit for purpose now 😂

I should point out that everything is tidied away under the covers as it should be and the extra wiring is beautifully Tessa taped and blended into the standard loom, I'm not a total cowboy 🤓

I flew into NY 5 years to the day after 9/11, the significance hadnt registered with us when booking!

(Didnt buy any umbrellas though).

9/11 was a Tuesday, on the prior Sunday we had booked to fly to Seattle in early October. Many flights were cancelled and many passengers were cancelling at short notice with questions about refunds.
When I finally got through to the airline the first words were " We don't give refunds for cancellations".
I replied but "what happens to my payment if you cancel " , "sorry not been asked that I will have to call you back" was the reply.
We did fly and security was greatly increased. Getting through US immigration is generally awkward. This time when we were asked " What is the purpose of your visit"  We answered "To visit our son who is resident here", " And what does he do ?
"He is a Firefighter / Paramedic"
" Welcome to America have a good visit "!

Regarding the brolly it was raining very hard and I saw  a display of them and so bought it, it got back to the UK and lives in the boot of the daily and gets used occasionally when spectating in our entertaining weather.

We flew out of JFK on 10 Sept 2011. I imagine tickets the following day would have been far cheaper but didn't want any 10-year anniversary risks

Just getting caught up on this.

I'm glad to see the thread has gone the way most do from Patrick having a bad day to teaching cats to fish for umbrellas!

We all have out bad days, some more than others, but we all get back up from them and hopefully come out stronger.

Patrick you keep this place running (I know with others help/corrections ) and it is definitely better off because of it.

Don't change it mate, just do what you've always done. (well with maybe a few exceptions! haha)
