I'm looking at an engine swapped 2ZZ how do you provide evidence to DVLA if it's been DIY'd ?

Without updated V5 - would this mess with insurance claims ?

Get a sheet of headed notepaper from a friendly garage & fill in the info.

Suposedly the Police can impound a car if it's not as it's supposed to be.

Do you not have to have a receipt for the engine?  just something i read somewhere. It used to be so easy...

I sent a letter from the engine fitter which was on headed paper as above. This had a new engine number on.

DVLA changed it no problems.

I later sent another letter from another garage with the correct engine number on and it was changed again!

I am sure your insurance would be invalid if this hasnt been done but it wasnt a problem to do when I did mine and I have no reason to think that has changed.

I recall there being a portion of the V5 for this purpose. Fill in. Send off.

Not enough unfortunately they require a letter from a qualified professional.
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Neither of the garages I used were mot testers, any garage will do.

Write out what you want them to say or have it ready to e-mail to them so they dont even have to think about it and you should be fine.

I think all you need would be the actual cc of the engine and the engine number.

They are not looking for an engineers report.
