Advice Needed

Hi Everyone,
Sadly I have to part with my MR2 as I've gone self employed.  I've had it on Autotrader all this weekend and last, and my phone hasn't rung once (I've tried ringing the ad from a separate phone and it does work).  I've reduced the price, twice now, but still no one's biting.

It's dawned on me that the football started on Friday and that might be diverting people's attention.  Should I wait till the footie's over (Jul 11th) and then readvertise, or do I need to reduce the price further?

Advice appreciated.

Hardtop and fitting kit are fetching around 1k theses days. Sell completely separately on Facebook or ebay.
Same for the extra set of alloys.

Your photos could be better tbh.

Gold wheels turn me off.

Your mot history is unbelievable never seen an mr2 without a handbrake advisory.

It's a very late registration Nov 2006 it will be younger than some TF300s I'd imagine.

I wouldn't reduce the price any further I think 4k is cheap tbh.

@s12vea what do you think
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Looks like a very nice car and seems like a very reasonable price.

I personally wouldnt reduce the asking price as you can always accept an offer if someone makes one but you just need to wait for the right buyer to spot the Ad. Many people wont travel far to look at a car though so the right buyer often needs to be someone fairly local!

You might want to try selling the hardtop and fitting kit on here separately as that makes things simpler (and no doubt people will haggle and want you to throw the hardtop in for free as part of the deal!).

Gaz mr-s

If that was advertised in the Trade they'd be asking £6k+ for it.  I'll go further than Scott above, your pics are pretty useless.  Pretty location, but it's the car folk want to see.  Got a big history file...?...show pics of it. Subframe looking good...photograph it. The engine bay should be good....photograph it. I don't mind gold wheels, but they look insipid on a silver. (IMO) If not prepared to change the wheels get some gold paint on the calipers. In theory it should have the revised pistons....post up the engine number (not chassis) & we'll check for you. The leather seats look a bit grubby...are they?  Wash with a damp cloth & if necessary get some leather restorer on them. Is the driver's bolster ok...it should be. If it isn't it'd be worth paying someone to fix it.
An earlier MOT mentioned corroded springs....if the were replaced that's worth mentioning.

Personally all the car needs is a good clean and polish.
On paper it's worth every part of the asking price if not a tad more but the pictures don't do the car justice. Many sell the hardtop separately but worth adding keeping the option for the buyer of the car first

It's not a link just a url I had to highlight it and then the auto trader app did the rest.

Nice, shiny silver!
Couple of things stand out to me, it's listed as unmodified but the wheels are a non standard colour which can cause issues with insurance sometimes if you don't declare it.
Be mindful that it reads as though you're selling the hardtop, stand and bag for £350?
In which case, if you are, I'd buy it separately from the car no question...

Nothing much to add to all the good advice above, a nice example requiring a little prep for selling as three lots. Car, hard top etc and spare wheels to maximise return.

No auto trader app on my gadgets , perhaps that's why it didn't work for me but that gentleman  @Topdownman was more understanding of some of the difficulties the older generation face.
Thank you Simon.

Hi,
Try copying and pasting the website address.  Thanks

Thanks to everyone for the replies.  Turns out I had my phone camera in "photo" mode.  I have now put it in "portrait" mode, and it has at least made a bit of a difference

Passed your ad details onto a guy 'vaguely' interested in my much older yellow MR2 that's also for sale.

Take or not my words of advice

It is possible to underprice, such that people think there must be something wrong with it, not that it's a damn good bargain

In the latest listings in here @Johnny5, yours appears immediately above mine

I am far from a photography expert(and actually employed a pro-photographer- albeit a friend) methinks there is quite a contrast between the two in terms of instant kerb appeal.

So good luck with your up-dated pictures to help to make it stand out

Actually, your photos should be landscape, that is, wide not tall. You used a lovely background for your car but failed to make use of it. The background is as much of the sale as the car itself because it "shows it off". Don't be afraid of taking distant shots as well as close up. Any potential buyer will have the chance of looking at your car close-up, but the photos need to make it attractive.
