Heated rear window

I've just bought a hard top, and am trying to connect the wiring for the heated rear window. I bought a new connector, but the location of the soft top connection is not where it's described as being in the manual. Any constructive suggestions, please. The car is 20 years old, it's had six owners, and I know nothing about the work that has been undertaken in previous years.

Take out the plastic end piece in the luggage compartment on the driver's side.  Then take out the door and plastic liner from the driver's side luggage compartment.  Have a good dog around with a flashlight and locate a connection that is relatively small with a wire that comes from the soft top rear window.  Pull that connection apart and plug your hard top wire in.
