As the kids say.. Wurd.
I paid 450 for a service that consisted of an oil change, transmission fluid change, oil filter and a "look around".

Needless to say I didn't go back and did a full service myself for about 150 incl top notch fluids.

Finding a reputable, competent and fair mechanic is definitely one of the biggest challenges of owning a "nice" car

I didnt pay that, I took it to a local Porsche specialist, £78, I have never paid for a brake fluid change before, always done them myself on all my cars, only did it to keep the service book correct if I sell it

Quote from: Craigjm on October 21, 2022, 21:38I guess these are the "Mr T" (sorry took me a while) original fluids....

Mr T = Toyota!
MR2ben is an ( independent) specialist supplier of MR2 parts.
Only the fluids with Toyota branding are Toyota recommended .
Notice also the Toyota branding and as sold by my local Toyota dealer of the Dot 5.1 brake fluid. Some discussion on here about the rights and wrongs of that.
Fact, Toyota MR2 mk 3 brake fluid reservoir cap is marked use only Dot 3.
Fact, when Toyota dealer was asked for brake fluid for said vehicle Dot 5.1 was supplied!

Note also that Toyota dealers sell some of the "recommended" fluids as does TCB our affiliate on the Forum.

Good call

Thanks. I am planning to see what condition they are in at the service and will do that if necessary

For what it's worth these are my views:

Toyota fluids are nothing special.  It's normal for a manufacturer to specify their own branded products.

Any decent fully synthetic 5w30 engine oil will be fine. Regular oil changes are more important than 'which oil'.

Ravenol electric power steering fluid will be fine.

Fresh Dot 4 brake fluid from the big can at the garage will be just fine.

I use Redline MT90 gearbox oil.  It does seem to make gear changes a bit slicker.

Any pink coolant will be fine.

Is there a list somewhere of the capacities of each of the different fluids?

Thanks

Good question.  We should have one in the reference section, but I don't see it.

Facelift and pre-facelft cars are slightly different.

Engine oil: 3.7 Ltr

Coolant: 10.4 Ltr

Gearbox: PFL: 1.9 Ltr  FL: 2.1 LTR

Power steering fluid: .65 Ltr,  but to do a proper flush you'll need 2 Ltr
