Try a specialist broker, like Adrian Flux (no number to hand, sorry).

There's also an insurance "sticky" which gives companies and owners, might find some youngsters there. Also search, a lot said on the matter.

Just curious, how do you get two different quotes one with your speeding ticket and one without?

Hate to say it, but you're under 25 with a speeding offence.. These days, did you expect any different?  s:( :( s:(

Have you tried http://www.confused.com?

Bell Direct? Admiral? (Bell were decent for me on an import 300ZX at 23.. Well.. £1700 TPF&T, which was decent compared to others..)

First one was online, I went through the form quickly to see if they would even consider an import.

Then I rang up to confirm details and added in the speeding info.

TryAdrian Flux, I have escaped speeding fines so far and cos I am old they are well reasonable with all my mods as well. They may be kind to you too, have to agree with Aaron though, did you get quotes before you put the deposit on the car to see what sort of figure that you would be looking at?

I got quotes on a non import one and assumed it would just be a bit more. All quotes for non import were around the £675 mark. I thought allow £800 and ill be fine. Didnt think I would get rejected from most companies.

Were those quotes with the speeding fine as well on the non-import, if so they appear to be shafting you royally for an import with speeding, I take it you have more than 3 points, otherwise they would not take it into account.   s:shock:  s:shock:  .

Hope that you get it sorted out, at the very worst you will have to lose your deposit I suppose and suffer a bit of negative feedback..good luck try Adrian Flux though to see what they say.

Greenlight were cheaper than flux for me (by about 33%) and i think they use the same underwriters (Highway). Mod friendly anyway  s:twisted:  s:twisted:

I was 23 when I first bought the car (I think?), anyway the only poeple who didn't offer me silly money for 23/24 London and not garaged were Elephant, Admiral and Bell direct, that was around 600 I think with 1 NCD.

Just change your details once you have the first quote.

Or with elephant, you can save the quote and go back and create another one.

Currently I have 3 quotes online with Elephant (dont ask!)

Clio Cup 182
Seat Leon Cupra R
Focus ST170

MR-S Turbo

Try Newton Lee insurance services on 0191 549 4949 they are very helpful and always get me a good quote on any car.

I hadn't realised it was an import as well.. and you're under 25..  s:? :? s:?

You can expect anywhere between a 0% and 100% loading on the insurance, just for it being an import, in my experience..

Tried Admiral, Bell direct and Newton Lee insurance services they all refused because it was an import unless i was over 25. Im gonna go with The Adrian Flux mob.   s:P :P s:P

Its funny that an MR2 import is so much more difficult to insure than my last car, a MX5 import. I think it must be a lack of knowledge on the insurance companies part. Over half of them didn't really even know there was such a car.   s:evil:  s:evil:

The crash and points never made any difference to my premium before either.

Thanks for all the help. Im picking up the car tomorrow. Will post in the Insurance details sticky as im sure im not the only under 25 in britain with an imported MR2.   s:? :? s:?

I note in you post in the sticky that you haven't got anyone else on the policy. Try sticking you GF/ Mum on and see if it goes down. Mine dropped by £70 by adding GF. I think she has only driven it twice!
