Following a post on SC I was wondering what the label on the driver's side of the engine showed on cars here in the UK?

Mine is a May 2002 with 1ZZ W52Q.

On SC they seemed to have 1ZZ W75 or 75E

Can't see no label... so no idea.

If you peer around and below the oil dipstick you should see a white sticker but you have to look pretty close. It has barcodes written on it and the largest writing in the middle is the code I mentioned.

Ahhh, gotcha, needed a torch as it's got too dark.  Mines a 1ZZ-W52Q like yours, it was made January 2002.

my 2003 says the same.

So I wonder what conclusion we can draw form that.  Would be interesting to get the number from another 2003, and two 2000/2001 models.

I think some of the guys at SC are trying to work out if it was indication of a revised engine. There is a small thread in their care & maintenance section to try and second guess what the code means in full.

It looks like we in the UK may have our own while they have a US code with some variations.

Yes. We are doing our best to get to the bottom of the engine failures. It is considerably difficult without the support of Toyota. My 2003 (purchased in May) has the 1ZZW75 on it, but that's all it says.

Mine also says W52Q.

My car had the block replaced last week.
I bought the car in 04/2001 but it was made on 12/2000

I didn't look for the reference of the old one.

But my new block is a 1ZZ-W52Q

I now that it's diferent from the stock one because the mechanic that replaced the block told me so.

I have no idea if this is true or not...and can't remember where I read it. But it said the W52 is the transmission type and Q means LSD.

US has different transmission without LSD, so that would make sense...

"On SC they seemed to have 1ZZ W75 or 75E"

And I'm only GUESSING on this one, but E sounds kinda electrical  s:lol:  s:lol:  SMT?

Edit: Fixed the dman smiley
Sure you can live without 500hp, but it\'s languishing.

i'm not sure on this but i think that the part where the number is, it was not replaced on my car.

The block that it was replaced on my car is the central part of the engine.

There is a part (where the number is) that is connected to that central part of the engine, and that wasn't replaced.

Mine says 1ZZ W52Q as well...

Tem, I don't think Q specifies LSD.  I did ask my friendly and well-informed (!!!) Toyota dealer and they told me that the pre-03 model does not have LSD.
