I've just got my first 2 - a 51 Reg. I was expecting to find the Sony head unit installed but i have Toyota TM4201 instead along with an unbranded CD player underneath.
I suspect the car could be a European import but i can't be sure. Any ideas why i have this ICE instead of the Sony - it works fine and i have no compaints but i'm just curious.
Thanks

Thanks for the replies. It was registered to a car supermarket for 4 days after it was initially registered so i thought something was up.
I take it they are the same spec as a UK model?
near as damit
you usually find teh headunit is different
if it has an alarm ata ll it will be different to teh UK one
and it will be missing teh roadster badges, but other than that, should be identical
strange, mine had a different head unit but as far as can tell the same alarm system and it also had the roadster badges?? (now removed)
i know for sure it's an EU import as the service book was stamped as being sold by "Garage Celis, St. Bernardsesteenweg 733-735, 2660, Hoboken"...
I have a feeling this is a Matsushita.
I have the manual for the TM4201 and it's very brief - just a basic explanation of the functions on the front panel (in poorly translated English) but no details on how to remove/fit the unit or how it connects to the CD player or other AUX inputs.
I also finally found the "manual" for the CD player - it was 1 piece of paper which has the model 08601-00906 written on it - It's also Toyota branded.
If its a Matsushita is it possible to get some more detailed technical information on the unit?
I haven't even got a piece of paper!
All I know is that I've got the standard unit like on pg10 of the August 2004 brochure.
I'm not even sure if it has a keycode s:?: :?: s:?:
Thought I had it set on that function that automatically scans to the best frequency for the station you are listening to.....but apparently not s:roll:  s:roll:
also, does anyone find their CDs are very cold and damp when taken from the glovebox in the morning?
I keep them in a wallet, but it doesn't help (my glovebox is dry tho...phew!)
Ok - I've decided the unit i have is a POS. I cant hear it at all on the motorway with the roof down.
Is it worth upgrading the speakers first, or the head unit or both? Ideally i dont want to spend more than 250 on the whole lot.
Any suggestions please?

I have a 2000 corolla gs vvti, and i saw on other forums that that cd deck is compatible with the controls on the radio on the top of the dash. If you are replacing it i'd be interestred in it. thanks
Nicely found on a search but I think you'll not get any luck there
