Title: soft top cracks ..
Post by: Anonymous on February 24, 2006, 09:03
Just noticed on the passenger side of the roof two small cracks in the roof material (like rubber cracks) not right through the roof by the looks of things and only about 3-4 mm in length ...

is this the begining of the end ... is there a cheapish way to get this repaird before it gets too expensive ?

Hi,

I had a couple of little cracks and they changed the roof for me, but that's extreme and I'm picky, plus it was under warranty.

I think you will find elsewhere if yo do a search that in fact the roof is very waterproof and the crack will be more cosmetic a problem, rather than water gushing in.

I'd advise just using one of the autoglym products to keep the hood supple when it starts getting sunny to avoid any further deteriation.

I beleive the roof has about 3 layers, the top two being waterproof.  I'm sure if I'm wrong someone will correct me.

Cheers

OK well if thats the case this is not so bad .... i think the auto glym stuff you recomend will be purchaced asap ! they are tiny small at the moment so im not to botherd about the cosmetic issue .. its the sort of thing you would only notice if you knew it was there ...
