Title: Problem with clutch?
Post by: Anonymous on February 25, 2006, 06:22
To say the least, I dont know all that much about engines and Ive been  experiencing  this problem when I shift gears, the rpms rev up before the acceleration kicks in. I could be crusing along at 45 mph and step on the gas and it doesnt go any faster for a second until after the rpms rev up.
Is this a problem with the clutch or what? if so, if a new one is needed, does anyone have any advice for a better clutch?

It sounds like the clutch is slipping, which means a) it's worn, or b) it's contaminated. How many miles on the car?

Dont leave this too long, by the sound of it you could find you get stuck somewhere with no drive.

mine went after 34K, so 54K is excellent life, give it a rest and have a new one fitted, your looking at £300 mark fitted
