Anyone go any bright ideas ?
My headlamp bulb has blown and smashed, prob due to excessive condensation on the inside of the light unit. I guess some water dripped on the bulb while it was on. s:evil: :evil: s:evil:
There is now bulb glass inside the light unit. I havnt taken the unit out yet. I will tomorrow when I get the bumper off. But from looking at it from the outside it looks like it wont be as simple as just skaking out, as there is a ridge inside. I thought about adapting a hoover nozzle. s:shock: :shock: s:shock:
But does anyone know of a better way ? s:roll: :roll: s:roll:
Depending on how keen you are on cleaning out the insides it's supposedly possible to dismantle the headlight by heating it in the oven to soften the glue.

Yep you can dismantle with heat and reassemble - something you might want to consider to rectify the condensation problem....
A quicker fix is your hoover plan (with care not to catch the reflector): I managed to get some leaves in mine during a hairdryer de-fogging session s:oops: :oops: s:oops: They came out with a bit of keyhole surgery from a piece of hose taped to the hoover. I managed this with the lamp in situ - you should have more control with the assembly out.
Or you could fill it with water and watch the glass float out s:wink: :wink: s:wink: s:lol: :lol: s:lol:

Got loads of time to dry it out so........
I'm willing to be proven wrong but since glass has a density of 2.6 I'd be more than a little surprised if broken glass floated.
Right. forget that then.
To expereiment why not go old skool and try washing your glasses in the sink rather than stacking the dishwasher. Then you'll know if glass floats!

I got the whole thing out in the end today. It turns out that the glass can actually fall down the back of reflector part. Easy.
