Title: Top Suspension Mounts
Post by: Anonymous on March 6, 2006, 15:39
Has anyone had these replaced outside warranty?
If so, do you have a rough costing?

Getting the common annoying creaking from the steering, typically at lock and at lower speeds.

Cheers

I've got that creaking too.  Anyone know approximately what the repair costs outside of warranty?

Also, what are the consequences of not repairing it?  Eventually I'll be getting a new suspension anyway...

Top mount =£51.44 + VAT just had it done. Since adding lowering springs at same time there was no labour charge, but I guess 1/2 - 3/4 hour @£XX ?? - so with VAT guess not much change from £100.

no Phil, your front right mounts not the problem, thats the ABS fireing if i'm correct, see what the others think at Anglesey, i'm also going to try deactivating the ABS on mine for the track, we could try it on yours as well

No it creaks doing a 3 point turn.

At high speed something just feels wrong somehow.

Not the car i remember buying that felt like ski-ing on the road. Carving the turns. Like a car on rails.

Now I have the original wheels back on the handling - it didnt come back, always thought changing the wheels was where it went? (people said)

Am I not used to so much rubber ? I dont know.

Stu you didnt feel anything wrong the otherday which bemused me, maybe im just crazy.

Phil

no i agree theres something wrong, but it seems to me that its the ABS fireing and not the supension, though i did say that i would like to remove the whole leg to be sure. I doubt that it is the physical leg as you have the Teins and you should have had the top mounts replaced with that kit IIRC
