Went to Mr T today to check the wheel balancing and ended up with new front discs and pads under warranty.
Short history of events leading up to today:
- I had my 20k service in December and they told me I needed new front pads and offered to do it for £180
- I refused and have since bought some pads on ebay for £20
- I had new wheels shortly after the service
- I wasn't happy with the handling and found that their 4 wheel alignment equipment needed recalibrating so they did it all again
- There has been vibration through the wheel at speeds around 70 so I took it back for them to check the wheel balancing
- Also, one of the rears was down on pressure so I asked if they repair it in case it was a puncture
That was today. They found the cause of the low pressure was due to leaking puncture repair.
Then they commented that the front discs were in bad condition and corroding so they said they would do them under warranty.
I then asked if they could do me a good price on fitting new pads considering that they would have already done most of the work fitting the new discs. Response: "we can't put the old pads back on so you get new ones as well under warranty". s:D :D s:D
How happy was I that I'd been too lazy to fit the new pads myself? s:lol:  s:lol:
I also asked them to flush the brake fluid because there was a bit of play on initial pressing of the pedal. They managed to charge me £47 for that. I asked if it should be under warranty but I didn't argue too much s:wink:  s:wink:
They almost put the right pressures in this time as well. 26 at the front and 30 at the back. I did tell them the pressures before they did any work - what more can you do?
Went out for a drive this afternoon just to bed the new pads and discs in of course. Wow, my car feels just like it did when it was new. The brakes really are superb, I could really attack the country lanes again even though it was wet and slippy.
Oh yes, I didn't find any extra scratches for once.
Overll, quite happy at the moment s8) 8) s8) . Isn't warranty a wonderful thing?

Result!
I believe mine had them replaced (according to prev owner) under warranty too. Not often you come away from a main dealer feeling well chuffed s:D :D s:D
Do you know if the Toyota central computer records warranty work carried out for each car as well as services?

Yes it does.
I got charged for the pads and they would not budge on that one; £56 as well s:? :? s:?
They also charged me £55 for new pads whilst replacing the front discs under warrenty. And they managed to chiesel off the nice new paint on my calipers.
Looks like you got a result to me.!
Grrrrrrrr... mine won't budge on either the discs or pads being replaced under warranty. s:x :x s:x
(Despite pointing out that every MR2 on their forecourt had the same nasty brake corrosion, and some other models)
As said before, a good result for you.
I had my discs and pads replaced under warranty about 2 years ago. I've just had an MOT done and it failed on corroded front discs. Looks like the Toyota discs are about the same sort of quality as their alloys s:( :( s:(

Mine had to be changed as they were making an awful sound when braking due to the corrosion. They did want to charge for the discs as well but I argued the toss with them s:wink:  s:wink:
ours had new discs and pads and wheels all in a week no payment.
