Title: OZ wheels on the MR2 - Try them here...
Post by: GSB on September 19, 2003, 11:51
Just found this on the O.Z website, its similar to the tirerack one, but exclusively for O.Z

Click on the link below to view an MR2 in its fastest colour, and try on the OZ range in all sizes from 15" to 17"

O.Z wheels (http://www.ozracing.com/eng/car/f_app_list.php?marca=38&fmodel=1228_&model=1228)

Theres a similar page at tirerack where you can try out all the slower colours, and a load of different wheels...

Tirerack.com (http://www.tirerack.com/upgrade_garage/WheelSearch.jsp?&autoMake=Toyota&autoModel=MR2+Spyder&autoYear=2001)

Site doesnt work...the picture is of a silver 2, not a blue one. You said it was a view of the 2 in its fastest colour and we all know blue is the one!.

I know it's horses for courses, but I actually really like the style of the standard MR2 wheels.. has anyone come across a manufacturer who makes very similar wheels but in a 17" version?

I'm sure I've seen something very close on a car opposite my house, but without asking the owner it's impossible to know who makes them!

Looking through the link on tirerack, it looks like wheel 28 is what you're after - Mille Miglia MM11-3 looks like 17" stockers to me!!

I, like c_a_r_t_e_r prefer the standard wheels and as he says, it is a horses for courses thing, however, I would like them chromed as in the MR2 Chrome Alloys post, does anybody know where I can get them or have mine chromed?

may help.

SSR are the closest I've seen.

Not sure if your bothered but Chrome will add substantially to the weight.

Polishing may be a better idea for a very similar effect.

Cheers Chris.. yes, they're pretty close, but it looks like the spokes have a circular-ish profile.. I'm sure the ones I saw had a more square profile like the stock wheels... I'll keep looking!

similar but not identical.

there also a 39mm offset and a 5 lug PCD. So they aren;t going to fit.

Apparently they're available for the MR2, even though the picture shows 5 nuts... ahh, "correct stud pattern will be dispatched".

As near as I'm going to get I think?!

Oh, whoops!

Cheers Kris, yes.. that's the fellow! Pretty close, wouldn't you say?

I had a look at them in the flesh, so to speak, last night - and they are very similar.

Quite reasonably priced too, although I have to admit that I don't have that kind of cash spare at the moment...  s:oops:  s:oops:
