Title: What should I disconnect?
Post by: Anonymous on March 23, 2006, 20:30
I haven't started my 2 for several months now so want to take some precations when I do. I'd like to crank it over on the starter motor  without it firing up so I can get some oil pumping first. Has anyone any  suggestions what's the easiet way to do this? I used to do it on my Westfield after each winter and just pulled the main plug off the coil pack but I'm not sure what will have the same effect on a 2?   s:? :? s:?

Cheers in advance...

Does it run the starter without ECU?

If you have a cat on, I wouldn't squirt fuel in there. Unburnt fuel kills cat very quickly. I'd unplug the injector wires, you only have to take the plastic valve cover cover off to get to them.

I assume so.  When I first installed my Unichip, it had a power switch to cut the power to the ECU to reset it.  I had this switch 'off' and the car still turned over...

Thanks guys I think I'll go with Tems suggestion as I don't want to damage the cat!
