Title: Connects 2
Post by: Anonymous on March 24, 2006, 15:20
Just did a search for this but couldnt find the answers I was after...

Just installed my Connects 2 (I should have been working, but ducked down to the car park and put it all in   s:D :D s:D  ). It all works fine and I had sound coming through etc... I'm just trying to work out the controls etc though. From what I can see, if I set the repeat setting to "off" I can shuffle through my playlists. However, I get "no text" coming up. My question, bearing in mind I'm at work so cant check, is this: Do you have to go into itunes for each song and set what the text should be, or should this not be picked up from the filename?

It says in the manual:

Howerver, should no text be programmed into the iPod, "No Text" will appear on the display.

So, has anyone else got one of these and how do you use yours??

Cheers!

How !!!!!!!!!  s:? :? s:?

I've had the same kit for a couple of months and still not figured out how to control it properly.

I have the stock sony h/u, video ipod and connects2 adaptor but all i seem to be able to get it to do is change tracks on the current playlist.
(Can't change playlists and no text displayed on h/u...)

Any tips you could give me would be very appreciated  s:) :) s:)

Hehe well I have the similar sort of thing..

I've basically set up three playlists which I can flick between. Other than that it's limited to just changing track.. all I do is start a playlist going on the pod then connect it via connect 2. I then can skip forward and back tracks on that as you can too. Then, just press the 2 button on the head unit twice then press skip forward a track. That'll jump to the next playlist and you can skip forward and backward tracks on there as well. Then pree 3 twice and skip forward and that'll take you to the third. You can't skip forward anymore than three unfortunately though, because it's LAME!   s:roll:  s:roll:

Cheers Slurpy, I'll give that a go !

Did you have any luck at all in getting text to display on the head unit?

It's a great bit of kit as far as being able to connect the ipod to the stereo, much better than an itrip, but it's just a shame we don't seem to be able to use it to its full potential.  s:roll:  s:roll:

Yeah sucks doesn't it... I'm not sure what the deal is with regards to the text bit. It says no text on mine, which is annoying. Espeically as the manual says that if that comes up, you need to enter text on your song on your ipod?? How the chuffing heck do you do that?? Apart from the fact that the "get info" items are all filled in on iTunes, I dont know where else to right it. Perhaps in the actual file itself? Who knows...

Dension would be the best way to go I fear.

So it's not just me being dumb then !
I even read through an itunes guide to try and figure it out but still no luck.

Oh well, I'll just be happy with what I've got. I guess I know what's playing anyway.  s:) :) s:)

I know I've dredged this up from a while back, but I also have just had this option fitted, and the control set up is pretty crappy!!
I have had a quick read of the connects2 website but can't seem to find an answer;

Is there any way that you can control using the ipod itself?

This was possible and much easier when I had a dension system in my old Z4.
