Sorry about this newbie question, I've done a quick search but can find nothing as simple as my brain requires.
I have bought a gps thingy that I want to wire up. In lots of posts people always talk about wiring stuff up to the back of the head unit. How exactly do you do this? I have two wires, a possitive and negative to wire up and the suppy reqired is anything from 5-24V so should be simple to wire up.
Have a PhD in physics but am still dumb!
Thanks for help in advance
Ps I have the SONY headunit with the CD and tape.
If you're just after a power supply thats switch on and off with the ignition, then connect your gps device to the back of the cigar lighter. The pink coloured wire is +12 volts, the other one is the negative ground wire. Its fused at 25Amps
So what youre saying is that I should cut the wires at the back of the cigar lighter and solder in the wires for my gps? so the gps is in parallel with the lighter??
Thanks for your superfast reply BTW s:) :) s:)

Yup, that'll do it...
what i did was run the wires from the fuse box on the passenger side, wired into the lighter fuse, no soldering required
nelix - pm sent.. dont want to sound even stupider on here.
Cheers for the replies, both of ya s:) :) s:)
