I wish you hadn't told me that!! i expected it to be significantly more.......

Did that included the bit on the door?

I decided to leave the doors black as the car originaly had black leather trim and i thought red door inserts may be a bit over the top..

I am about to to the same leather installation.
I have a question though.

Because they require the car 3 days, I do not want to give the car for 3 days.
Therefore I want to give just the seats.

If I decide to give one seat at a time, do the passenger's seat fit the drivers ?

How easy is to remove the seats??

Quote from: "SimosSpyder"If I decide to give one seat at a time, do the passenger's seat fit the drivers ?

No, you can't bolt them on the wrong side.

QuoteHow easy is to remove the seats??

Very. Just open 4 bolts and unclip one (or two?) electrical connections under the seat.
Title:
Post by: philster_d on May 18, 2006, 18:01
yes easy, be careful how you pick up the loose seats tho. The tendancy is to pick it up under the front but thats where the runner release is.

I do it nearly everytime    s:oops:  s:oops:

Phil

Post by: alancdavis on May 18, 2006, 18:28
As Tem stated you can not fit drivers seat into passenger side and visa versa  s:( :( s:(

Removal is a 10 minute job,,,,,4 bolts on each seat and remove the wiring connection underneth,
  s:lol:  s:lol:
Also if you are lucky you will find the coins that have fallen out of your pocket  s:P :P s:P

If the quote is too much, I can give you the details of Lee, whi trimmed my interior. Very helpful chap.
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on May 24, 2006, 15:01
well I'm assuming it should be about the same plus say £100 at most for two partial door cards, we'll have to see?  wheres 'Lee' operate from geographically?
Title:
Post by: loadswine on May 24, 2006, 15:09
He's in Kings Lynn matey, closer to you than it was for me. I got my seats , door cards, both door pulls and rests, gear gaiter, steering wheel, console struts and a centre armrest in two tone for just over £700.

My seats and door trim are red anyway and I think the same colours as yours will look great, the only thing is my seats dont have a gap in the head rests

If I recall,,,,on precision trimmings web site it shows your type of seats in red and black   s:D :D s:D  ,,,,or is it black and red   s:roll:  s:roll:

also consider a logo on the seats,,,it makes them more individual  s:!: :!: s:!:

my quote was wating for me when I got home

hi Perry

The price for re-trimming your boxster seats and door inserts in two colour leather if we have the colours that match with porcshe logos will be
£695

so its either £100 for embroidered logos are porkers are £100 more just for the sake of it??
Title:
Post by: alancdavis on May 24, 2006, 23:13
My seats were 495 plus 20 for the logos,,,,,I guess the type of logo and style of seat may change quotes slightly    s:) :) s:)

so we have just seats and embroidery carried out at £515

A quote for £575 for seats and door trims

porker seats and trims and embroidery £695

and in Norfolk seats , door cards, door pulls, rests, gear gaiter, steering wheel, console struts and a centre armrest for just over £700

The embroidery is a nice touch with the huddersfiled mob it has to be said.

Nigel could you let me have the aidy etc for this Lee please, would like to research this one further.

Problem I have is that the car is already completely covered in leather inc dash etc  (porsche green   s:shock:  s:shock:  ), but I'm not overly impressed with how its worn/stretched on the seats.

I dont want the dash out and covered so I need to blend any new covering on the seats in with the rest of the car, so ideally I need to find someone who does a lot of colours so they can do some panels in the same or very similar green.

porsche connelly leather is rather dissapointing in all honesty.   its a shame its a bank holiday coming up because i start my new job on thursday and need the car after that   s:? :? s:?

Okay Perry, the addy for Lee, the chap who did mine is:
 e lee@leekiley.wanadoo.co.uk e
He is helpful in sourcing leather from different manufacturers to suit your colour scheme. We spent a long time searching for an alcantara that wasn't available anywhere, but got the colour leather I was after in the end. I was satisfied that we'd done sufficient research by the time I chose my colours. (These would not suit all, but I use my car only accasionally and wanted something different.)
Mention my name and the forum by all means, he is a one man outfit and willing to do what you need him to.
Good luck matey.

are you other guys having black as one colour?  possibly that is cheaper as I have asked for two colours (no black)  and they probs have loads of black to use off cut etc instead of haveing to buy two hides?

If its just the fact that its a porsche and they think I'm minted then they wont be seeing me!  (plus I'm not minted   s:cry:  s:cry:   P)

Ok, I think i've seen this answered somewhere else, but I did search and i did not found it. If someone can point me to the correct thread, please ignore me.

Here is my question.
I was told from a leather fitter, that if I remove the seats (4 bolts + 1 wire) then when I start the car, there might be problem with the air bag!!!

Someone that is 100% sure, please answer me, if I remove the seat, will there be any problem with unwiring ?? Will the airbag be ok ?

Thanks a lot, Simon.

I also had my seats re-trim. Black leather, yellow stitching and yellow embroidered Midship Runabout eagle...

Had them done at Pete Lenton Specialist Car Trimmers in Cheadle Hulme.

Cost was £500 + VAT for the Seats and £58 + VAT for the logo.

That also enclude fitting the heating pad from Tem...

However now that they have the matrix for the logo, having it embroidered should not cost more than £10   s:wink:  s:wink:

Excellent job, the seats look great...  s:D :D s:D

judged by yourselves...

Look great Celine - can't wait to see them for real.

Mine are getting old and tired now - time for a rethink soon. I take it Pete Lenton do cloth as well as leather? Maybe I should ask for an orthopaedic bead mat to be sewn into mine  s:wink:  s:wink:

That looks to be a top job. The yellow stitching and eagles give enough to match to the body colour without being too loud as with a total yellow interior.

Title: Seat re-trim
Post by: Anonymous on August 12, 2006, 08:38
Can anyone recommend where I can get my seats re-trimmed in South East? Or where is best regardless of the distance?

At my local Toyota dealer they have some 06 MR2s with alcantara seats - which look great and don't sting as much when they've been in the sun. Has anyone any experience with these as I've heard that alcantara wears much more quickly?

Many thanks

Al

I live in the south east and was more than happy to travel up to Norfolk to get my retrim done, great work and great value.
Have been using the car for some months since the retrim and have no problems at all.

interiors finished and its poor    s:( :( s:(

seats have baggy/loose areas and the door cards are particuarly bad. (lumpy and disformed)

The door cards are being redone by someone else now and I'm also considering having the seats redone as well.

Its unfortunate that were off to St tropez in the motor so I had to take them back as they were, but in all honesty I would never use this chap again.

They would probably look ok in a corsa/nova or old car (his normal clients) but they are definately not upto Porsche standard  (or mine)

Obviously he has done work before that owners have been happy with. But after driving 240 miles to see him, 240 miles to drop them off and 240 miles to pick them up I'm not overly amused.   s:evil:  s:evil:

Horrified to hear that you had a poor job Perry. I would not have given the details out if I had not been totally satisfied with my own job.
Others have seen mine and nobody has said that it was a shoddy job.
I know my car is older than your Porsche and not worth as much, but I still wanted a decent job when it was done.
Hope you get it sorted to your satisfaction in the end matey.
Title:
Post by: Anonymous on August 31, 2006, 10:29
no probs matey, yours came out fine and good luck to ya   s:D :D s:D

I pointed out to him that I wouldnt be happy if the finish wasnt exactly the same as stock, ie nice and tight with none of those 'pleats' that appear when the cover doesnt fit properly.

unfortunately theres a lot of these and they are high lighted on the yellow leather parts, probably because its so bright.

The door cards have lumps that look like the glue has started to go off possibly?  you know how evostick goes like 'snot' when its going off?

also where the centre panels of the door cards have been prised apart , they now have uneven edges where they used to be smooth, you can see where a tool as been used to lever them apart at the edges and 'dented' the panel underneath the leather, on the edges.

when I picked them up I put some of the faults down to the bright lighting in his workshop room and hoped they would look better in the car, but unfortunately not.

He was good enough to post the remainiing leather down to me so that I could get the cards redone properly but that hardly the point is it?

going away for 10 days and will make a desision when I get back, but I think its probably going to have to be a c0mpletely new retrim by a a prefessional company not working from their house.

I had exactly the same thing with a bodyshop once, I had a great respray and recommended them to a friend.  they cocked his car right up!  such is life I suppose.

spoke to 2 specialist porsche breakers and for a second hand interior it is £2000 !  so another retrim is the best option at present.

youi live and learn    s:wink:  s:wink:
