Title: MR2 Rollbar
Post by: Brad1208 on July 3, 2006, 19:48
Hi all,

Got myself a 2002 MR2 back in January and now saved up some cash to spend on her. One thing that i am dying to get is the chrome roll/syle bar. Can anyone tell me if you can fit them yourself or do they have to come when the car is bought new. If not, also, anyone know of where i might be able to get one from and roughly how much. Also the rear spoiler the curved one that sits on the boot appeals to me, so any advice or tips on either would be great! Cheers!!

BRAD

It's a long shot, but I think if you do a search you just may find lots and lots of information about roll bars and spoilers.    s:wink:  s:wink:

Welcome by the way   s:lol:  s:lol:

The spoiler i have seen looks simlar to that (very nice by the way!) but site further up the rear and is more curved aroiund the rear window.

Saw it yesterday at the Japenese Performance Car show at thoresby in Notts where i learnt about this site too!

Many thanks for the welcomes, can see this being a pretty useful place!!

The spoiler you're looking for is the TTE rear spoiler, i like it too, then again I would 'cos I've got one on my 2   s:D :D s:D

Do a search for it, I'm sure there's pictures of it on here somewhere.

Various sources, and occasionally they turn up on EBay.

MrT dealerships have also been known to sell them v.cheap from time to time - there was a v.good deal on earlier in the year. Worth asking around, but bide your time and you won't have to pay over the odds. Someone somewhere has a shedful of TTE bits and with the '2 being discontinued its only a matter of time before they surface.

Self-fit is feasible but its piggin messy, as Gazz will testify!

Its the standard Toyota accessory spoiler available through your dealer!

Gentlefolk,
Surely both of these 'spoilers' are standard items available from your Toyota dealer?  Of the two, I prefer the rearmost one as a neater and probably more effective aerofoil.  However, what does it do to central brake light visibility?  Also, is the other one meant to be a spoiler or a roll support?  S'man

Always watch the car behind the car infront.

the rear spoiler incorporates a brake light

The TTE sports is available from MrT, as is the lip spoiler (mentioned but not pictured).

There are a number of 3rd party makes of spoiler around - we tried to start a spoiler thread in response to Celine's query some time ago but it didn't work  s:lol:  s:lol:  However, there's a bit more info and links within it.  (Click Here) (http://www.mr2roc.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=10445)

No, the sports spoiler offers no roll support whatsoever. And on the topic of roll bars, those are largely cosmetic rather than functional too... unless you go for a more substantial affair (which means losing your softop and/or significantly reducing door access!).

<Mod> I think the direction of discussion suggests that this thread is a candidate for the "Appearance" forum. Moved. </Mod>

MrT is our affectionate shorthand for a Toyota dealership.

Consider yourself smacked and de-toothed  s:lol:  s:lol:

Sorry to resurect this post.

If I got a tte style bar would it be possible to do a DIY fitment. Is it a very involved procedure?

I've searched but can find any details on how to fit it. I'm sure there was something on here a few months ago.
The search goes on......

not that we've tried it but i'd have thought Mr.T could supply one for you, if not get TTE in Germany to ship one over for you

bear in mind TTE in Germany will only deal with clubs/individuals for bulk orders

however I've just spoke to Silverstone Performance, one of out affiliates and they are happy to ship teh entire TTE range stateside.

Assuming teh costs for you guys make sense.
