It's not as bad as the Reversing sound. That really mounts my breasts!

I thought that about the reversing sound until I realised that reverse in the SMT is actually where 1st is in most manual cars. We also have a sensible car in the household with a manual box, if I drive it too much I'm prone to getting into the '2 and trying to pull away in reverse. If it wasn't for that annoying noise my rear bumper would be a mess by now.
At least that's what I tell the other half when she suggests swapping cars for the day   s:wink:  s:wink:

Also, a friend of a friend was killed in the states a couple of years ago when the car she was being driven home in was accidentally reversed over a cliff after a night out. Apparently they parked up to watch the sunrise and didn't realise that the car was in R and not D when they went to pull away!!  s:( :( s:(

Title: 2000 UK door open bleeper removal
Post by: Burning rubber on August 13, 2006, 13:38
The method described does not work for a 2000 model (UK) there is no connector as described.

This is my option for removing this noise pollution

The beeper is soldered onto the main clock panel, behind the speedo

1. Remove the binicle by just pulling
2. Remove the 3 screws that hold the clocks in place.
3. Now pull the clocks forward gently and unplug the 3 connectors
4. Lift the clocks out and remove the small screws from the back of the clocks
5. Now gently lift the circuit board off

The sounder is on the top left (a round object about 1" diameter)

6. I placed a piece of rubber over the sounder to mute the sound

7. Next just reverse order to put things back

This method does not stop the bleeper justs makes it very quiet

Hope this helps
