Title: Post'03 with Amp -> Problem, noise!!!
Post by: Anonymous on November 1, 2006, 22:30
Greetings once again.
I cant express in words the feeling of some new installed loudspeakers with a nice amp to drive them in!

I have a small problem though, that is quite annoying.
The Post 03  HU does not have Preouts, so I drive the signal from the rear speakers wiring, to the speakers input (high level) amp.

The problem is that I hear noise all the time. Also, when I rev up, I hear the noise increasing.

Any ideas?

It sounds very much like you are getting noise interferance on the signal. It would be worth looking at the route you have used for the signal/speaker cables. Do they run next to a power lead? do they run next to other cables or near a fuse/relay box?

Someone else may be able to provide more MR2 specific knowledge on this, but that's probably your cause.

To correct this all you need to do is re route the signal/speaker cables away from any sources of interference.

alternatively you could use a noise supressor, but I've always seen that as a workaround rather than a fix and therefore not the best solution. This website may be of some use:

Thanks for your answer mate.

I'm running a totally different route than the power lead.
I'm extending the rear speakers wiring, tha is already there, and it is passing under the door sealers, among other factory set wires.

i've tried lowering the gain of the AMP (60%), and the noise is only noticed just a little now.

Thanks a lot for the URL, pretty helpfull!

Disconnect the wire from the radio, if the noise goes away, it's probably from the radio.

If not, disconnect the wire from the amp, if the noise goes away now, it's probably from the wire.

If not, it's probably from the amp.

It's easier to guess more, if you try to isolate it a bit first.  s;) ;) s;)
