I have already been through active subs, the 1st being the Blaupunkt which blew up, and the 2nd was a Kenwood/Pioneer (cant remember now!), which completely filled the rear bin, therefore pushing the boat too far for practicality.
Im after choosing another because of the vast improvement in sound that they give, but obviously want one that can cope with the volume, and is still slimline.
I have 3 on my shortlist (starting with least favourite)
Pioneer TS WX11A
Alpine SWD 1600
Infinity Basslink X Active Bassbox
TBH, all the different ratings and figures baffle me, is there anybody who can shed light on what I should be looking for, and what the figures/ratings mean? and which of the above you could recommend?

That one gets my vote - has the biggest speaker which will create better, less boomey bass. I've got the Alpine myself and whilst I'm happy with it, for an extra few quid the Infinity looks like it would deliver a far better and natural sounding thud
Would that fit on the floor behind the pax seat?
And, more to the point, would it work effectively in that position?

Thanks, I thought the same, not only for the brand name but also the high power output; but like mentioned above, I am clueless to the ratings!!
I reckon it would fit, but your pax seat wouldn't go all the way back. However, this is pure guess work.
I shoved the alpine in the luggage bins and it makes no difference to the bass wether the door is open or closed so I guess it wouldn't make a difference to the big boy Infinity either - assuming it could stand upright in there.
