Post by: Burning rubber on November 28, 2006, 11:20
hi,

does anyone know if can you change the original big door speakers only and get good sound?

I am not sound expert, I would just like the sound to be a bit more bassy

cheers

it will help, but the stock headuniot isn't very powerful so if your speaker have a low sensitivty they will be very quiet

I have already changed the headunit thinking the cr** sound was a dodgy headunit.
I have fitted a Sony CDX-F5500 mp3 player which I had in my MR2 Turbo and it was very good sound.
In the Roadster it is just as useless as the stock unit
Can you suggest a reasonibly priced speaker

cheers

can we also suggest you use dynamat or rubberised roofing flash tape available from B&Q, it will stop the transmission of sound through the bodywork which can make good speakers sound slightly tinny

I replaced the stock door speakers and tweeters with Infinity Kappa (ebay £100), without replacing the headunit, and for my purposes its perfect.

I did "dynamat" the door cards though with similar stuff from Matt which IMO helped tremendously, and the doors now shut with more of a solid feel - god knows what the weight has done to my 0 - 60 time though   s:wink:  s:wink:

i got a huge roll of dynamat for 20 quid at halfrauds.

made a massive difference as i had so much left i generally put it everywhere !!!

speakers, i dont think u need to spend big bucks to get a good sound, i got a set off flea bay, no big name brand, but the numbers they quoted made sense.

think i paid about 20 quid.
