Hi all
I was reading in the alarm manual that there is a feature that will automatically lock/unlock the doors when the ignition is switched on/off. This feature "can be selected and I should consult the Toyota dealer"
Living in a dodgy area I would appreciate this feature - does anyone know if this is a simple mod to activate?

Thats the first I've heard of that one, and I have to say if its there, I wouldn't mind implementing it on my car. Which page is is on in the manual? and any chance of a scan?
Mr T alarm is of a science to it's own and i have tryed to under stand the working of it s:roll: :roll: s:roll:
but thre is an option that if you forget to lock the car and that the igniton is off and it has not been locked for 5 mins it will lock it's self, I think you have to have a another module added to the alarm mine has it but it only locks the doors dosnt dead lock them !

The car can in fact be set to lock the doors automatically (anti-jacking).
The other thing of the doors locking themselves when you park - I did some testing of this, and it will only happen when you unlock the doors - for example if you drive with the doors locked like we do, you parkup, turn off the ignition, and unlock the doors. They will then lock themselves automatically.
If you do not have them locked (and cannot then unlock them) then the car will(should) not lock itself.
Its all explained in the manual that Kris posted (yes the elusive manual that us 03 owners have).

Ahh, so its only applicable to the Mr. T spec alarm system. The auto locking feature when parked I have got though. If you accidentaly push the unlock button in your pocket, but the doors arent opened, the car will lock itself again...

It's also in the manual that came with my '01. About once a week, on average, it works but there doesn't seem to be any ryhme or reason to when it works. Mr T at Guildford have already had it in once to try and make it work and they now want it for the day next week to try again.
Personal opinion is that they haven't got a clue what they're doing and are making it up as they go along, the first time I took it in the service manager spent half an hour trying to convince me that although it was in the manual it didn't mean that it could actually do it. I'm rapidly losing patience with them.
I had it enabled on my 2004 model and it didn't cost anything - think its only a few minutes job. Only problem with it is that if you unlock the doors to let someone out, thats it gone, it won't auto lock again and won't automatically unlock again till you switch off the ignition and restart the car - its the same if you start the car with either door open - it won't then lock or unluck on auto till you turn the ignition off and back on again.. The wifes mini is speed sensitive and a far better system IMO but I still like having on the '2.

If i'm driving in a dodgy area or stuck in traffic with scrotes near by, I just press the lock button on the dash.
Making it up as they went along or not it now works, supposedly they reset the 'Theft' ECU.

strange, maybe my alarm isn't standard then. Mines an EU import (which I only found out after buying it! s:oops: :oops: s:oops: ) and the alarm seems almost intelligent!
No matter what I do, it seems to look after itself, regardless of what I do after i've unlocked it, stopped driving, or whatever, i'm sure it's even deadlocked itself on several occasions. maybe I ought to start calling it 'Kit'!!?!?!?! s:lol: :lol: s:lol:
