Does anyone know if these have a factory imobiliser or alarm? Have just bought one but it only came with one key and it isn't a remote one. You do have to have your foot to the floor to start it though.
Amusingly it also has a Toyota electronic Toll collection box fitted?
As far as I know with lookin to buy one of these, the Jap ones do now come with the Alarm and MOST UK Insurance companies insist on a Cat 1 Alarm.
Check with the seller to see if he has done a retro fit
If a Japanese car has an alarm fitted, it was done so by the previous owner - in Japan the cars do not have alarms fitted..
So to the OP - if yours is a fresh import, that's why you have no alarm and no keyless entry..
Some additional nuggets of info ...
Surprising but true: as Russ says (in reverse!) not all insurance companies require Thatcham Immob or Immob/Alarm. Try LV= - the new brand of insurance through CSMA. s:wink:  s:wink:
With the MR-S you should have a central locking key fob. If you just have a plain key, it sounds like they've just furnished you with the valet key or a re-cut master key s:? :? s:? Can you lock/unlock your glovebox and storage boxes with it?
The clutch depress switch isn't a feature on UK cars and is a great way of confusing fellow ROC members when they ask for a test-drive s:wink:  s:wink:
haha iv got the clutch depress switch too but assumed it came with the alarm, what is the toll collection thing? pics? is it like a american ezpass where you dont have to pay the toll and it registers it automatically, wouldnt the owner have taken that out? might want to check if the car checks out, did you buy it from a proper importer?
no mrs has an alarm or immobilsor from the factory
clutch pedal down is a j-spec and possibly US only thing
