To make the appearance look better
When having the exhaust fitted at H&S, this was brought up by Ian, who said that he thought that all the exhausts fitted would look better with a semi circular shape cut out of the bumper and the tailpipes pushed up into the cut out, which could have a alloy pipeing surround, this would be easy cause the tailpipes are designed to be raised or lowered
I have decided to go ahead and do this after xmas, I have allready designed the template, but before I get cutting please give me your thoughts on the matter

Well i'll throw my two penneth in.. IMHO i think this would be a fantastic idea in general, as the MR2 is one of those 'nuggety' shapes that has a perfect balance, almost symmetry to its design; and anything 'added' on like big spoilers (sorry to any one who has one!) looks out of place. The TTE exhaust and many other exhausts also fall into this category IMHO. So bringing the exhausts more in unison with the overall shape can only be a good thing...however i think this would look better on the pre 03's as they have a larger flat plastic section. The facelift models have those two partitioning pieces which if close to the exhaust would look too fussy IMHO, especially on a silver car!
So after a roundabout story on your car i'd go for it Peter!
Should look good in my opinion, would be very interested in seeing the results. s:) :) s:)
As mentioned in the other thread, I say do it s:) :) s:)
Definately would improve the look s:lol:  s:lol:
defo improvement me thinks. (hell what do I know I havnt even took delivery yet s:lol:  s:lol: )
There you go – hope Liz doesn't mind (it's her car)!

Phil your pipes were mentioned by Ian as one that could do with being lifted and with your 4" pipes would look really good
Pete s:D :D s:D
Peter, I think you're right. I also think yours would look the dogs danglies if/when you get it done too!
The idea crossed my mind too after one of the tips starting melting that shape into the bumper!!
The only downside is that if you decide to return the car to stock for keeping the H&S (for your next MR2) or selling the H&S then the stock exhaust will look cr@p on the modified bumper.

If you're buying a new MR2 with same colour, you can always swap the bumpers.
If you're just selling it, why not sell the bumper with it and get a new (or used) one for the car...?

Not going to work if the paint fades while you own the car.

I don't think it fades that much within few years, if you take good care of it...and even if it does, a respray should be pretty cheap, if you take the bumper off yourself and remove the parts you don't want painted.
Like liz's s:lol:  s:lol:

Careful you never know where that Remus might end up tomorrow!!
And I have just seen Pauls mock up of what my car would look like with the exhaust modded...I love it....can feel an appointment coming on in the New Year and I will join Peter down at H & S!! s:lol:  s:lol:

I am going into H & S on the 14th April to get this this done, Ian reckons it should only take a couple of hours. Hopefully it will look as the mock up in Pauls picture above ^^^at the end of it all. I suppose it really goes with what sort of design that you are having as to how it will fit in with the exhaust/bumper. Ian said that it will look so much more like it has always been there, I can't wait!! I am reliably informed by H & S that the exhaust won't melt the bumper and no need for any shielding.
I am being charged £60.00 for this...I told him after he told me, I would of paid a bit more!!

Good idea, now he'll charge us a ton! s:wink:  s:wink:
You can quote what he charged me s:) :) s:) , when are you getting yours then Stevo??

I don't doubt H&S much, but there's the niggling memory of Comer and his first trip home with his new baby behind him.
My guess is that any heat generated may melt stuff, but not enough to deform more than the area directly in contact with the zorst.
Hope it works out, 'cause it'll look the dogs danglies when it's done s:) :) s:)
I can reliably confirm that after nearly 13,000 miles, the H&S exhasut only exhibits any heat effects on the bumper if it is actually in direct physical contact.

H&S are the ones I want to go to, support local bi'niss and all.
However I'm eagerly awaiting news on TTE turbo, and in an ideal world I'd have that fitted first, then get a twin exhaust to suit the set-up.
But the Lord only knows when that will be s:cry:  s:cry:

Now I like that pic above!! I agree with Ian, and exactly why I like the msd kit rear on silvermsd's car. I've never really liked the rest of the kit, but this could well be an option!! s:wink:  s:wink:
D'ya reckon h+s would mod a bumper for a remus? s:roll:  s:roll:

Liz you are the guinee pig on this one. Please post a piccy when done and what you think, as I'm looking to do this at the same time that the exhaust is being fitted; which subsequently will be after the 14th. Cheers s:wink:  s:wink:
No probs, I have a picture printed out of Pauls mock up on mine, showed it to Ian and said I want it to look like this, so hopefully will look the same as the picture, will let you know what happens.
Here it is:

And before anyone says anything the near side needs adjustment, only noticed when I had a good look when I got home, but I am generally pleased with its appearance. The pipes are further apart than they were before due to the cat being in the way when they moved them up. Just spoken to Ian and he is going to sort it for me, as they tend to settle after they have been adjusted.
As there is more work that Ian thought for doing this, if anyone else wants it done it will be £80.00 - Ian asked me to pass that onto you! s:wink:  s:wink:
Also had the corky fitted, my does that make a nice difference! s:D :D s:D
Now that looks very nice indeed!
looking good.
That looks superb. s8) 8) s8)
Damn I want to see it but I'm at work and it's being blocked. If I wanted to get it done I guess I just contact H&S direct instead of going through Mark?
Just call Ian he will sort you out! 01268-727256
Thanks for the comments, I will be happier when the near side is sorted out, but Simon followed me home and said that it looked nice.
Very nice s8) 8) s8)
