Title: Bluetooth Car Kits
Post by: custardavenger on November 4, 2007, 17:51
Hi Chaps

Need recomendations on car kits?

I have the Sony Ericsson HCB-300 which is being anoying again. When I first got it it would only connect a call for 7-10 seconds. Got that sorted but now I have a new phone it's playing up again.

So can you guys recomend any kits? I realise having read reviews on lots of kits it seems they all have their troubles.

Yeah some one on another website said that one too. Where did you fit yours? Looked a bit too big to fit anywhere discretely and be able to see it.

Spit has his fitted over the passenger seatbelt light but I've fitted mine just underneath the handbrake handle

Hmmm. Interesting. not thought of there. Looks like it will be a while before I get one though as just been looking at the prices on ebay and they're not cheap. Also not many in black.

Not cheap put packed with features, like uploading your 'phone book, displaying caller names, voice dialling. And it cuts your music automatically and uses car speakers.

And great reception. Bizarrely, callers can hear you even better top-down, which is a plus for the '2.  s:wink:  s:wink:

Wow. is that with the mic mounted at the top of the windscreen? And there's no echo from using the orig speakers?

Is it plug and play ISO plugs or cut and splice?

P&P on the ISO speaker connections, but from memory i think you need to tap in +12V, 12V switched and ground. Could be wrong though, or it could be different on the newer models? Danny'll tell you.

The ducking circuitry works pretty well to eliminate echo. I've got the mike mounted half way up the A-pillar.

I have the CK3200 which works with pretty much every phone I have tired so far. I have a little mic mounted in the speedo surround, works really well across town with the roof down.

Note - there is an issue with all new nokias's atm - when the phone has been connected to a non nokia car kit it can leave an open circuit causing feed back/ echo's. Easy solution - switch bluetooth off when you get out of the car.
