Title: Pick me some speakers !
Post by: cdrskull on November 22, 2007, 22:31
yeah yeah, I know theres loads of threads.. yes I have searched and 90% of them are now missing pictures.. SO .. I thought I would start this thread..

Right.. I am putting some component 6.5(17cm) speakers and tweeters in my doors.. but I cant decide on what sub(s) to go for.

I have at the moment a rockford p4004 (think thats right) 4 x amp and as you know we only have 2 channels so I was thinking of using the other 2 channels for subs.. or even just a single sub.

They will be going in the bins, but I would still like to retain some room.. maybe for a small bag or something but as I dont carry a spare I have the whole bonnet bin to use..

I would like to be able to remove the subs incase I need to use the space.. ( about 5 mins top to remove them)

So.. would you guys recommend maybe 2 x 8 or 1 x 10 or something else ?

Also if I was to use just a single sub maybe it wouldnt need removing and I was thinking of sculpiting my bin doors so the sub would be in the middle.. anyone done this yet ? I havent a clue about all the different subs about or about if they need to be ported etc.. ( is that the right term )

anyway.. any help at all please.. these will be being fitting in a week or two.

Steve

speaker wise i always loved rainbows component speakers, some of the best i've ever heard, and what i was originally going to put in my car.

as for the subs, have a look at under dash subs, it can be fitted under the dash, its then doesn't need to be removed to free up storage as you will still have all the rear bins.

but what speakers to fit in the sub box i don't know, not my area of expertise.

for under dash sub, speak to mark iii, i believe he is thinking of making them,

and speak to liz among others as she has one fitted.

My next set of components will be these (http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/sr6500/).

Here (http://www.caraudiomag.com/testreports/0511cae_polk_audio_sr6500_car_speakers/index.html)'s an amazing review of them.

I've seen them for US$450 on ebay.  With the dollar in the tank, that's a steal...
