I got a 2000 x reg with the original stereo 6 months ago and the CD player has never worked. Not been to bothered but i thought it was time to try and sort it out. Any suggestions?
The radio works and the whole thing is powered up but when i put a cd in it takes it for 20 seconds then says disc error.
Sounds like a dead or dirty laser, or a broken drive motor.
You can try running a 'cleaning disc' through (basically a CD with a little brush glued to it), but you will most likely need professional repair or replacement (and replacement is likely to be cheaper than repair these days)

Ohhhhh even better as cheap to upgrade to a superior head unit s:wink:  s:wink:
What's a single din adaptor?! A replacement for my current stero?! Sorry for the ignorance, i've got no knowledge about this kinda thing. Actually thats not true, i managed to plug in a scart lead to my tv the other day. s:D :D s:D
The original Sony unit will be double din, meaning it's twice the height of a normal head unit.
The adaptor Liz is pimping s:wink:  s:wink: allows a normal single din unit to fit in the hole left by your larger unit.
Plus you get a nice little place under the stereo for whatever you want.
Simon
I fitted mine myself which means that ANYONE can do it!
Have to agree with Liz, if I can do it then its pretty much achievable by anyone! The camera was more difficult so I called in a pro s:) :) s:)
