Hi, i have a y reg mr2,the stereo unit is a sony,it has a cd tuner cassette

the right time without success, ive read the manual and there is no mention
of this anywhere,i also see in the manual that this stereo is not illustrated,
ive searched the threads without success,is this an oem stereo, can anyone
advise please,kevy s:( :( s:(
Think you have to press the Shift key to get the alternative functions on the numbered keys. One of them is Setup. Cycle through Setup options and Clock setting and Illumination are in there.

Steve, I don't think my one is anything like that!
From an X reg with the standard stereo...
Can't remember what the button is at the mo but it's on the far right side and circular.
Push it in until the clock starts flashing then use the volume dial to change the time. I can never remember which button it is to change to the minutes but it is a press of one of them on the right side!
[edit]
Press:
Disp until it beeps and the hour starts flashing
Then
Volume control to set the hours.
Then
Sound to move to the minutes
Then
Volume for the minutes
Then
Disp again to store the time.

Taken from the sony changer control instructions :-
Press 'shift' key
Press 'sound' key
press 'AF/TA' Key
The hour digits should be flashing
Turn the volume knob up or down to set the hour
Press 'AF/TA' Key
The minute digits should be flashing
Turn the volume knob up or down to set minutes
Press 'shift' key
the clock should start
Press 'shift' key again to return to normal playback mode
easy eh? s:shock:  s:shock:
Hope that helps

Mine doesn't have AF/TA *sniff* s:( :( s:(

I just did mine today. Think it was [shift] which lights up [setup]. Then press the little arrow that lights up to cycle through the options and [setup] to enter it, then the volume dial to change.
Only took a minute to figure out and set.

Intriguing, are there in fact 2 "standard" Sony units variants. Mine's a 51 plate and has (had) a Sony with AF/TA key, and Shift - Setup, etc to change clock.
Or is one of us thinking we have the standard Sony, but in fact it's not s:? :? s:?
Steve
Always possible!
Mind you, the one I have doesn't quite match the instruction book I've got. I put it down to the standard 1 book for all slight variations of models but it's possible that the original unit got nicked before I bought the car and they put a slightly different one in.
