Title: Door open buzzer
Post by: Anonymous on May 11, 2008, 16:49
Hi Guys,

Just joined the forum, Can any one please tell me if you can turn off the buzzer that goes off when you open the drivers door with the keys still in the ignition? It is driving me mad when cleaning the car with the door open if I have some music on at the same time!

Cheers.

Jon

Could just turn the ignition to the last notch? It turns off when you do this, but you'll have to make sure all fans and that or off or you'll get through the battery quicker than normal.

dont you mean turn it to the 1st position on the lock(ACC) not the last one, just remember to turn off the fan as it will drain the battery

Aren't those the immobilizer wires?

PFC doesn't need them, but I bet the stock ecu does.

Erm.. doesn't it still "bing" in ACC, and only stop when you actually have the Ign set to "ON"?

I could have sworn mine did, maybe I was imagining it though - I'll check later   s:D :D s:D

Answer back is the warning light flashing when you press any button on your remote.

And what does that have to do with the question posed by the OP?   s:roll:  s:roll:

He wants to shut down the warning beep for when the key is inserted with the door open (but without having to turn on the main ign) - the link you have posted is for the warning beep from TVISS if you try to SET THE ALARM when the door is open.   s:roll:  s:roll:

I think the OP is looking for shutting down Peizo buzzer (door ajar warning).

Read the guide and you can program to "shut" the door ajar warning/beep up.  s:roll:  s:roll:

The door-ajar beeper you are referring to ONLY SOUNDS WHEN YOU ATTEMPT TO ARM THE ALARM WITH THE DOOR OPEN, and is a beeper contained within the TVISS module located under the front of the car.

The beeper the OP is referring to is integrated into the instrument binnacle (and is the same one used for the similarly annoying reverse-gear selected warning beep on later face-lift cars, which early face-lift and non-face-lift cars didnt have). This beeper IS NOT CONNECTED to the TVISS module in any way, and is present in ALL cars regardless of wether the TVISS is fitted or not.

I have an EU import car WITHOUT the TVISS installed and I still get the key-in door-ajar beep. Your instructions relate SPECIFICALLY to programming TVISS and it's behaviour to stimulii NOT the generic equipment fitted to ALL production versions

Just an alternative... If you do a search, there is a post on the forum which, whilst doesn't tell you how to switch off the buzzer, tells you how you can quieten it down by adding a strategically placed bit of rubber over the speaker itself....

I did this, with a piece of velcro (not rubber as this totally drowned out all the warnings!) and whilst all the warnings  are still audible, all are MUCH less tinny/trebly and cheap sounding and a fair bit quieter - including the reversing beep of course which used to drive me mad, and is now bearable.

Cheers.
