Hi All,
I need help with the new Head unit I was given as a gift !.
Its a 7" Double Din All-in-one touch-screen color TFT LCD (16:9).DVD/ MP3 compatible, RDS, Blue tooth, USB/ SD and MMC card , Built-in TV receiver and Navigation system. But did not get the map CD. So i purchased 'ROUTE 66' and installed it on 2GB SD card but the unit fails to read the software. But on the GPS setting mode the unit is getting 12 satellite signals.
Can someone help as to what I need to do to get the Navigation system working? The unit is on bench test at the moment and not installed in the car as yet.

BlackSabel.
For a start you need to give more info like model number / mfr etc.
Just a guess but I suspect the cd is going to be specific to the device / mfr
Steve
I don't have any more information. The unit is not of any banded make. Looks like chinese make with not model no etc?

Hi SteveJ
Looks like the GPS was installed as extra option. But i am 100% sure it has built in GPS but just don,t know how to get it working.
I really don't want to install the unit in the car unless i get this working.
There must surely be a model number on it somewhere... if so post it up, it could lead to the manufacturer.
Hi
Just had a close look and there is no model number or any indication of the manufacturer of this unit.
All i know that it requires map on the SD card for the GPS to function. But what version of map I don,t have a clue hence this post.

Have you asked whoever gave it to you where it came from? There are loads of these units on Ebay - the seller might be able to point you in the right direction.
How did Route 66 come? As a download? I don't know how that works, but I know that Navman (for example) maps cannot be copied to a random SD card and used in another device.
Hi StuM,
The unit was bought from China by a mate who was out there on Holiday. I did a bench test and all is working perfect except the GPS. But when i go into GPS setting and click signal tab its getting 12 satellite signals. It has two slots for SD cards once for GPS and other for MP3/MP4
I ramdonly bought route 66 cd hoping that once software is installed on SD card it will work.
The way that the Navman map software (sorry, it's the only one I've looked into) works is that somewhere buried in the config files is an encoded reference to the serial number of the SD card that is being used. So, when you wholesale copy everything from one card to another, there is an immediate mismatch with the serial number of the new SD card, so it fails when inserted into the device.
If the Route 66 map software is designed to be installed on an SD card from a CD (Navman originals come on SD) then this is probably not the issue.
Have a search on Ebay for 'in car dvd gps' and there are quite a few. A lot come with free map software on SD cards. If you find one that doesn't, send the seller a message and ask what needs to be done. If you are a prospective buyer they will probably tell you..
Quite interested in this as I've looked at these myself.
Good luck.

Glad you got it sorted.
What was the problem?
Cheers,
Stu
Yes one of my Chinese contact in China helped me !!!!
On Route66 in 'config.ini' file one needs to change the setting of GPSPort=3
GPSBaudRate=9600 and then copied all the files back on SD card and inserted the SD card in the DVD and surprise suprise !!!!! Working !!!!!
Its really working good and the sound system is also perfect.
Great stuff, thanks.
