Hey guys, tried looking on previous posts to find any info but couldn't find what I was looking for. Does anyone know if you can get an iso connector for the Toyota mrs? Or would it be better to rewire it to a different generic head eg pioneer? (only brand I use)
went into halfords but they only had it for the mr2 with active speakers if I'm right, but the head shape was different to mine s:( :( s:(
Thanks for any help guys and sorry if this has been posted before
The one from Halfords will fit I believe (must admit, not done this on an MR-S, but..) - but to be sure.. when you went looking at the existing loom, were you looking at the connectors you unplugged from the back of the head unit?
If so those are the wrong ones - if you feed the wire out from under the carpet you'll find another set of connectors about 6" further down the wire, and it's those you need to plug the Autoleads loom into s:) :) s:) (Caught me out the first time I did it, too)

Yeah, the generic Toyota loom fits the MR-S too...well, at least it did fit the MR2 Roadster, if we're talking about that, not 100% about the JDM cars.
Yeah I think I am looking at the wrong one lol. although as you said, this plug did just come straight from the back of the old unit. Let me try add a pic to show you...

Where would I get the autoleads loom from? sorry for such noobish questions!
Sorry - I switched names half way through my reply, didn't I.. s:) :) s:) Autoleads == Halfords (they're all the same loom, really, regardless of the name on the box s:) :) s:) )
It's been a while since i've been in there, but I'm pretty sure if you give that wiring a good tug you'll find more connectors further down - although I must say, those connectors look like nothing I've ever seen before! I wonder if that is an MR-S vs. Roadster difference, or if someone butchered the original loom in Japan.. does it look like it's been messed with anywhere?
(Heck the one on the left looks like it'd be more at home on an old ATX motherboard s:lol:  s:lol: )
okaayyyy, nice sunny day, thought i wud quickly take a pic of this wire thing u told me to find... guess what i found!

i didnt want to take out the wire that was connected to it because i didnt disconnect thebattery and harm the electricals in my car... but im assuming this is what u meant? also what the hell is that box thing? it was hidden underneath the carpet and im wondering if its a hidden amp? but i thought that was in the mk2?
that connector i showed u before was connected to an OLD pioneer that came with the car, ancient little thing i must say! and yes it does look like an atx plug haha! s:D :D s:D
The box under the carpet is, if I recall, the airbag computer - there's no amp in the Mk3 as you say.
That wiring does look like someone has done something to it previously.. the bullet connectors definitely aren't standard..
although, the iso connector in halford did look like this

and that doesnt even look like that wud fit the back of my current head unit, what to do!?
£15 in halfords or £4 on ebay lol

thats the cable when i took off the other connector, what do u think?
well that matches the top left white connector ?
got it up and working! s:D :D s:D
found a missing piece, which was why i got so confused. although, there is a slight problem, is there anyway the aerial can only go up when you turn the radio on? because the aerial goes up when the stereo turns on and when your listening to cd, etc. on the previous head unit, the aerial only came up up wen the radio was on, so when your listening to a cd it stays down.. hope that makes sense?
its a function of teh head unit
if yours won;t you need an inline switch
You're right about the airbag computer.
Yep the aerial does behaves like that in the post-facelift cars. Mine was up all the time when listening to CD, which is annoying at the car wash s:lol:  s:lol:

Now heres a benefit of the piece you just added. One of the wires is the auto aerial (they might even be labelled, mine were) So you can cut this without damaging the cars wiring. Insert a length of wire with a switch and that means you can then turn it on or off as you like. Pop it all back together and find a good place for the switch. s:) :) s:)
