How do you get the check engine codes ?
I have heard you connect 2 pins together on the OBD2 connector and then count the flashes of the light is this correct ?
Which pins connect together ?
Has anyone tried connecting a laptop to the OBD2 connector and know what interface it has ?
IE I2C, 485, 232, CAN etc....
So many questions......... s:D :D s:D

If I can get a CEL code how can I find out what it means? Is there a list of codes/descriptions somewhere?
Many codes conform to the OBDII standard, so you can find out that way, or you can invest in a set of workshop manuals which detail not only what the code means, but which engine components to investigate in order of liklihood of them causing the fault.
I bought a box of tricks for my laptop that downloads the codes, tells you what they mean, and resets the CEL as well...
